Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is considered that nowadays there are far too many options to choose from for individuals compared to the past. I completely agree with this opinion and think that having variety of choices encourages us to form our own opinions more clever and creative way.
First of all, wide range of options help people see in new lenses. It lets them compare different ideas. This process builds stronger and more smarter opinions. For example, when you imagine the difference of knowledge between two people of absorbing a singular news channel and multiple ones. There would be epic gap of knowledge in various topics. The reason why is that is because one is consuming less topic and the other one due to their limitation of choices. That is why it is more crucial to have the freedom of choosing to be intelligent.
Secondly, it is proven that every individual processes information differently. Even their way showcasing it is not the same as well. The more choices we perceive the more creativity of different kind would be shown. For instance, a famous writer, John Parker, used to write loyally for one topic which never gave him the result he wanted. However, when he started writing other genres, fame naturally chose him. Thus, it helped him to be more creative in his writing.
To conclude, I strongly believe that having wide range of options make people more creative and easier to form their own opinions while it makes them more intelligent and artistic.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that having many choices is beneficial. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that choices lead to intelligence and creativity, the arguments lack depth. For instance, the example of 'John Parker' is vague and does not clearly explain how having more choices specifically led to his success. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed reasoning and concrete, real-world examples that directly support your claims. The conclusion restates your position well, but the overall argument remains slightly repetitive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear topic sentence. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions are awkward, such as 'The reason why is that is because one is consuming...'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logic of your arguments. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'variety', 'limitation', and 'genres'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'form our own opinions more clever and creative way' (should be 'in a more clever and creative way') and 'epic gap of knowledge'. There are also some minor errors in word formation, such as 'more smarter', which is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'having variety of choices' (missing article), 'more smarter' (double comparative), and 'The reason why is that is because' (redundant phrasing). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable and occur frequently enough to affect the overall fluency. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips, particularly with articles, comparatives, and sentence construction.
