Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention jobs, shopping, and education, the arguments are largely descriptive lists rather than analytical points. For example, the paragraph on shopping simply lists items like 't-shirt, jeans, tops' without explaining why having these choices is significant or whether it is positive or negative. To reach a higher band, you need to extend your ideas by explaining the implications of these choices—such as the psychological impact of 'choice overload' or the benefits of personal freedom—rather than just listing examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. Phrases like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are used, but the internal flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. For instance, the transition between the general statement about jobs and the specific examples is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'and so others' in the introduction, which makes the text feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'different kinds', and 'a lot of'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'dwellers' (which is not typically used to mean 'people' in this context) and 'tatto artist' (spelling error). While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited, and there is a lack of less common lexical items that would demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of people... doing'), missing articles (e.g., 'in modern era'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'I am totally agree'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for articles and verb forms would be beneficial.
