Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 127 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses the prompt by expressing a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth or supporting evidence. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and relevant examples, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'firstly' and 'secondly'. There is a lack of logical flow between sentences, and the transitions between ideas are abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making the progression of the argument difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected in a way that guides the reader through your logic more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'addition in courses' and 'make sometime stress'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient for an academic task, relying on simple, everyday language. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary and improve your control over collocations. For example, instead of 'make confusion', use 'cause confusion' or 'lead to indecision'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('every people think'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structure. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and punctuation is often misused or absent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct subject-verb agreement and the appropriate use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
