Student answer (Band 6.0)
NOWADAY, PEOPLE HAVE MANY CHOIES COMPARED TO PAST IN AREAS LIKE SHOPPING, EDDUCATION, ENTERTAINEMENT AS WELL AS IN CAREERS ALSO. OTHERS BELIEVE THAT HAVEING MORE OPTIONS HAS MADE LIFE MORE DIFFICULT. I LARGELY AGREE ON THIS STATEMENT AS TO MANY OPTIONS CAN CREATE CONFUSION AND STRESS AND CAN CAUSE A BAD DECISION. IN THIS ESSAY BOTH THE VIEWS WILL BE DISCUSSED WITH RELEVANT EXAMPLES.
ON THE ONE HAND, HAVING MULTIPLE CHOICES CAN MAKE DICISION TOUGH, WHEN PEOPLE HAVE VARITY OF PRODUCTS IN SHOPPING, ELECTRONIC DEVISES, AND EVEN IN THEIR PERSONAL LIVES, THEY SPEND LOT OF TIME TO MAKE A DECISION AND CAN CAUSE TROUBLE TO OTHERS. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN BUYING A NEW PHONE, CUSTOMERS CAN FIND DIFFICULTY IN CHOOSING A PHONE AS, THERE ARE MULTIPLE OPTIONS IN THE SAME PRICEING AND HAVE SAME FEATURES AS WELL. AS A RESULT, THEY CAN GET CONFUSED AND MAKE WRONG DECISION AND MIGHT REGRATE AFTERWARDS.
ON THE OTHER HAND, HAVING MANY CHOICES CAN BE BENIFICIAL, AS PEOPLE CAN SELECT PRODUCTS, JOBS, COURCES AND ENTERTAINMENT ACCORDING TO THEIR LIKEING AND PREFERANCE.
FOR INSTANCE, STUDENTS CAN SELECT COURSES, ONLINE SEATIONS AND COMPARE UNIVERSITIES FOR THEIR BETTER FUTURE. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE IN THE PAST, SO HAVING OPTIONS CAN CREATE A SCENE OF FREEDOM.
IN CONCLUSION, I BELIVE ALTHOUGH HAVING MANY CHOICES GIVES PEOPLE GREATER FREEDOM, BUT TO MANY OPTIONS CAN CREAT CONFUSION, STRESS AND EVENTUALY IN TO A BAD DECISION AND CAN CHANGE THEIR PREFERANCE IN FUTURE. THEREFOR, PEOPLE SHOULD CONCIDER THEIR NEEDS RATHER THAT COMPAIRING EVERY OPTIONS.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding the stress of choice and the benefits of freedom are relevant, though the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the example of buying a phone is a good start but lacks depth in explaining the psychological impact of 'choice overload.' The essay structure is logical, and the conclusion restates the position clearly. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand your supporting points with more detailed analysis or specific real-world examples to ensure the ideas are fully developed rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'For instance' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are minor issues with punctuation and sentence structure that occasionally disrupt the logical progression. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall cohesion could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between ideas is smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'CHOIES', 'EDDUCATION', 'ENTERTAINEMENT', 'DICISION', 'DEVISES', 'BENIFICIAL', 'COURCES', 'PREFERANCE', 'CONCIDER', 'COMPAIRING'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the essay. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'freedom' and 'confusion,' the range is limited. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic words and try to incorporate more precise collocations to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'both the views will be discussed', 'to many options', 'in to a bad decision'). The use of capitalization for the entire text is also inappropriate for formal writing. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by these recurring errors. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound before attempting more complex forms.
