Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, some people argue that we have various options in different areas of life including items and opportunities. I strongly agree with this perspective due to introduction of globalization and modernism.

One main reason is that as technology has developed, organizations and authorities can easily access to other part of the world and also updates in the market. This allows countries to introduce effective medicines and other edible products by the coordination with actual companies. As a result, people get various option in size, cost, and flavor of different items and makes things accessible, affordable, and suitable for them. For instance, citizens of a country can use medicines produced at another country by checking its suitability easily from supermarkets.

Another reason is that with the emergence of modernism, todays, everyone use mobile smartphones and have internet connection which enables people to interact in the digital world. Furthermore, as a the majority of world's population use online platforms, people are starting use social media platforms a source of income for them. They have various job opportunities available now including digital marketing, freelancing, video editing, soft engineering, and many more choices. They can easily get access to employers and customers, learn skills free of charge, and provide their services in the market to earn money. For instance, a sedentary person can learn digital marketing skills and provide his services in the market for earning sufficient money according to suitability.

In conclusion, I agree with this view that now various choices are available to people due to rapid technological development and modernism. This allow people to avail different options in items as well as in job opportunities according to their desire.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas regarding globalization and digital opportunities are relevant and supported with examples, such as the availability of international medicines and the rise of remote work. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument about 'modernism' is a bit vague, and the link between globalization and the sheer volume of choices could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development of ideas remains at a functional level rather than a fully extended one.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One main reason is', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition into the second body paragraph feels a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas, though the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be refined to avoid repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'globalization', 'digital marketing', and 'freelancing'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'edible products' (which is slightly imprecise in the context of medicine) and 'soft engineering' (likely meant 'software engineering'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. There is some repetition of basic words like 'choices', 'options', and 'people', which limits the lexical variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'due to introduction of' (missing article), 'access to other part of the world' (pluralization error), 'as a the majority' (redundant article), and 'starting use' (missing preposition 'to'). These errors are persistent but do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on article usage, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
