Student answer (Band 5.5)

some people think that in this modern era we have too many choices. I am on the same wave length with them because of new innovation and job opportunities.

One of the major reasons for my approval to this viewpoint is the new technology. This is due to the fact that with the help of new technology we have many choices in studies as well as in jobs. For instance, a survey conducted by education department has approved computer courses due to its productive outcomes. Therefore, computer use in every sectors in industries and markets which makes every task easier when youngsters have computer degree they could easily apply for a job or get and find a job and they also have too many choices in jobs on multiple sectors.

Another significant point in its favor is the job opportunities. This means that modern technology use in markets and factories and when people know how to use machines they can easily find a job in multiple sectors and it also increase the quality and competition in the industries. If new technology boost up in society, it can bring benefits in the form of work opportunities and better communication in industries which increase in sales and companies need more workers on workplace.

To conclude, it is clear from the above mentioned points that the idea of too many choices seems practical and bring prosperity for the society and people. Therefore, it would be wise to accept this idea and promote it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. You state that you agree with the premise that there are 'too many choices,' but your arguments focus almost exclusively on the benefits of technology and job opportunities, rather than exploring the potential negative implications of having 'too many choices' (such as decision fatigue or anxiety). The connection between the prompt and your arguments is occasionally tenuous. To improve, ensure that your supporting points directly address the specific nuance of the question rather than just discussing the general topic of technology.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'This is due to the fact that', 'Another significant point in its favor is'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by run-on sentences or unclear referencing. For example, the transition from discussing computer courses to the general job market in the second paragraph is not smooth. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each sentence builds logically on the previous one would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrases like 'many choices' and 'new technology' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'on the same wave length' (which is an idiom used incorrectly here) and 'boost up in society'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'proliferation of options,' 'technological advancement,' or 'career prospects,' and ensure that idiomatic expressions are used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'computer use in every sectors'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'when youngsters have computer degree they could easily apply'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be highly beneficial.
