Student answer (Band 5.5)
Man has changed through ages, from the time when he depicted a herds of mammoth on the walls of his caves to the days when he can make a beautiful picture and even can make a cup of tea while leaving his favourite chair. In this rapidly evolving world, technology has made everything easier than before and because of that some people believe that we can do anything according to our interests. I strongly agree with this notion and in this essay I will explain some reasons with relevant examples.
First and foremost, now educational institutes are providing more choices in choosing courses, especially those students who are come from an unstable financial background. Pupils can chose any subjects according to their interest. Consequently, it results in more and more students want to continue their education after school.
Secondly, when people earn their ,master degree and they become professional in their major there are more choices of job available in the employment market. Additionally, if we want to learn something new, we can learn it by self study and by joining online online platforms without any formal instructor. For instance, we can learn cooking, new languages and singing by searching videos on YouTube. A few days ago, i learn how to bake a cake by watching a video and at the end it turns out very good.
In conclusion, Although having too many choices has more significant benefits like you can do whatever you want to do without compromising. Sometimes you just get confused between two things. you need advice from your parents but I believe having more options promote your self growth and ensure long term prosperity of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of educational choices and the availability of online learning. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The second paragraph regarding job markets is a bit thin, and the conclusion introduces a new point about 'confusion' which is not fully explored or integrated into the main argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation and a more robust example to support the central thesis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the sentence structure in the final paragraph is slightly fragmented, which affects the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences within paragraphs are more tightly connected would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'unstable financial background' and 'long term prosperity'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'depicted a herds' (should be 'depicted a herd') and 'professional in their major' (should be 'proficient in their field'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precise and sophisticated vocabulary would be needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('those students who are come from') and tense inconsistencies ('i learn how to bake'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization of 'i'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence construction will be beneficial.
