Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While you attempt to state a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack the necessary supporting examples or depth required for an academic essay. The prompt asks for an evaluation of whether having 'too many choices' is positive or negative, but your response remains superficial and fails to explore the implications of the topic. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the word count to allow for a full discussion of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While you use some transition words like 'To embark upon' and 'Ergo', they are often used incorrectly or sound unnatural in context. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and do not flow logically from one to the next. The lack of sufficient content makes it difficult to establish a coherent argument. You should focus on using cohesive devices more naturally and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports your overall thesis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'a concerned issue' and 'a human numerous choices', which impede clarity. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to use more sophisticated or precise language to express your ideas. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on correct collocations. Avoid using words like 'Ergo' if you are not entirely confident in their usage, as it currently feels forced and out of place.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('choices encourages') and sentence structure ('a human numerous choices is good'). Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper grammatical construction, which makes the text difficult to follow. You rely primarily on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at more complex sentences are often inaccurate. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors such as pluralization and preposition usage before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
