Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the current era, where human beings have a lot of options in many fields of life as well as for daily necessities, it is difficult for individuals to make decisions regarding their choices. I strongly agree that nowadays the public has many options to select anything in life, but also career choices.
Increasing the number of choices not only opens the gate for a bulk of options but also puts the decision-making skill of every person in confusion. In the past, human beings had limited options about anything in life, but due to technological advancement and the invention of the internet, persons have a bulk of options about everyday tasks as well as career selection. For example, Amazon setups give customers an abundance of options about any product that the customer wants to purchase from this platform. By just entering the product name in the search bar, a search for a particular product displays numerous options within the same category.
In addition, the presence of choices creates convenience for every person, but there is a need for structure by which persons can approach that specific item or exact product that they need. Furthermore, as in many learning management systems (LMS), there are a wide array of choices about online courses, and students often become confused about which course best meets their needs. Moreover, in the UK, the one LMS platform gives the filter option to select the right course according to their needs.
In conclusion, currently people have a lot of options, but to select the suitable product, there is a need for a structured framework that enables individuals to make decisions effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on the issue of having too many choices. The ideas are relevant, particularly the examples regarding Amazon and learning management systems. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you acknowledge the confusion caused by excessive choice, the argument could be strengthened by exploring the psychological impact or the long-term consequences of this 'choice overload' more deeply. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the overall depth of the discussion remains at a functional level rather than a fully extended one.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, though the flow between the example of Amazon and the broader argument about decision-making could be more tightly integrated to improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'technological advancement', 'abundance', and 'structured framework'. However, there is a tendency to repeat words such as 'options' and 'choices' frequently, which limits the sophistication of your writing. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'Amazon setups' or 'a bulk of options'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and idiomatic expressions to convey your ideas with greater variety and nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors, such as 'the one LMS platform' and 'persons have a bulk of options'. Some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'select anything in life, but also career choices'. Punctuation is generally accurate, but the sentence variety could be improved by using more complex subordinate clauses to connect ideas more fluidly. The errors present do not impede communication, but they do prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
