Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the current era, where human beings have a lot of options in many fields of life as well as for daily necessities, it is difficult for individuals to make decisions regarding their choices. I strongly agree that nowadays the public has many options to select anything in life, but also career choices.
Increasing the number of choices not only opens the gate for a bulk of options but also puts the decision-making skill of every person in confusion. In the past, human beings had limited options about anything in life, but due to technological advancement and the invention of the internet, persons have a bulk of options about everyday tasks as well as career selection. For example, Amazon setups give customers an abundance of options about any product that the customer wants to purchase from this platform. By just entering the product name in the search bar, a search for a particular product displays numerous options within the same category.
In addition, the presence of choices creates convenience for every person, but there is a need for structure by which persons can approach that specific item or exact product that they need. Furthermore, as in many learning management systems (LMS), there are a wide array of choices about online courses, and students often become confused about which course best meets their needs. Moreover, in the UK, the one LMS platform gives the filter option to select the right course according to their needs.
In conclusion, currently people have a lot of options, but to select the suitable product, there is a need for a structured framework that enables individuals to make decisions effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the example of Amazon and the mention of learning management systems. However, the development is somewhat limited. While the essay identifies the problem of 'too many choices' leading to confusion, the argument could be strengthened by exploring the psychological impact or the long-term consequences of this phenomenon more deeply. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main point, but the essay remains somewhat brief in its analytical depth, which keeps it at a solid band 6 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and less reliant on standard linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'technological advancement', 'learning management systems', and 'structured framework'. However, there is some repetition of basic words like 'options' and 'choices'. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'Amazon setups' or 'a bulk of options'. To improve, the student should aim for more precise vocabulary and avoid repeating the same terms, opting instead for synonyms or more sophisticated phrasing to demonstrate a wider range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'persons have a bulk of options' (should be 'people') and 'the one LMS platform' (the use of 'the one' is slightly awkward). Punctuation is generally correct, and the meaning is never obscured by errors. While the student attempts complex sentences, they are not always perfectly controlled. Increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement and article usage will help move toward a higher band score.
