Student answer (Band 5.5)

In todays world, there are variety of choices in every sector of life starting from newly born baby to old age and till th death. Many people arugues we have to many preferences which helps us to view differently. I firmly agree with this and stand my ground.

Firstly, starting from the childhood we are asked to chose the basic clothing and food such as ice cream and favourite colors. This habit makes an individual always look for the best and suitable for oneself. Consequently. this offers freedom and personal autonomy. Even the students are now free to chose any faculty or career path on their own compare to past there is no restriction by family members. Furthermore even to chose the life partner nowadays we get multiple choices rather then arrange marriage like past society. For instance, I always got chance to choose the environment to study and got opportunity to study in abroad. This resulted positively in the society moving forward with peace.

On the other hand, having many options to choose lead to waste of tons of time. In current even to chose simple flavour of ice cream child takes a lot time which results in waste of tons of time. Furthermore, having to choose many options lead to psychological term 'analysis paralysis'. It also cause unsatisfaction when choosing any items results mental fatigue.

To summarize it up, having many choices have myriad benefits and few other affects as well. Nonetheless, choosing the best makes person feel perfect but sometimes they feel unsatisfied looking at more choices available in other platforms.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, though the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. You provide relevant examples, such as career choices and the psychological concept of 'analysis paralysis,' which supports your argument well. However, some points, particularly the discussion on 'ice cream' and 'clothing,' are slightly repetitive and lack depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-elaborated argument rather than listing multiple minor examples. The conclusion is a bit weak as it introduces a slightly contradictory tone ('myriad benefits and few other affects') rather than firmly restating your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' 'Furthermore,' and 'On the other hand' to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the sentence fragment 'Consequently. this offers freedom...' where the punctuation is incorrect. Additionally, the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring correct punctuation will help the flow of your writing appear more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including some good attempts at more complex terms like 'personal autonomy' and 'analysis paralysis.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'arugues' instead of 'argue,' 'chose' used instead of 'choose,' and 'affects' used where 'effects' was intended. These errors are noticeable but do not generally impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering common collocations and proofreading for basic spelling and word-form errors, as these currently limit your ability to convey ideas with precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as 'there are variety of choices' (missing article), 'in current even to chose' (incorrect phrasing), and 'it also cause' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of full stops where commas should be used. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
