Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people believed that nowadays we have too many choices in different areas on life. Well I agree partly with this statement because having many options can be beneficial, but it can also make people feel confused and stressed when making decisions.
On the positive side, having more choices gives people greater freedom and allows them to select products and services that best suits their needs. For example consumer can choose from different brands, prices and quality levels when buying a phone, clothes, or other products. Similarly, students can choose from a wide range of universities, courses and career path. This variety help people find opportunities that match their interests, skills, and financial situation.
However, too many choices can sometimes create stress and make decisions make more difficult. When people are presented with large numbers of options, they may spend too much time comparing them. For instance, when Shopping online, there can be hundreds of similar products with different prices and reviews. As a result, consumer may feel unsure which product is the best. Even after making decisions, they may regret it because they think other option could have been better.
In my own experience, i have faced the same situation when choosing only courses and career opportunities. Having many options was useful, but it also made it difficult to focus on one clear direction.
Overall, i believe that having choices is generally positive because it gives people freedom and flexibility. However, too many options can become overwhelming. Therefore, people should have enough choices to meet their needs without being overloaded with unnecessary alternatives and information.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the task by providing a clear position that acknowledges both the benefits and the drawbacks of having many choices. Your ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as consumer behavior in online shopping and academic course selection. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are developed with more depth; for instance, you could explain the psychological impact of 'choice overload' in greater detail. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes your stance. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the positive side', 'Similarly', 'However', and 'As a result' to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the use of pronouns would enhance the overall cohesion. The structure is effective and supports the progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'beneficial', 'flexibility', and 'overwhelmed'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'career path' (should be plural 'paths') and 'consumer' (should be plural 'consumers'). You attempt to use less common vocabulary, but the range is somewhat limited. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, increasing the variety and precision of your word choices would help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'Some people believed' (should be 'believe'), 'best suits' (should be 'best suit' to agree with 'products and services'), and 'decisions make more difficult' (should be 'make decisions more difficult'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and capitalization issues, such as 'Shopping' and 'i'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization will significantly improve your accuracy.
