Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt, but the focus is inconsistent. While the prompt asks about the 'too many choices' phenomenon, the essay quickly pivots to a discussion about technology and AI-driven unemployment. This shift makes the argument tangential to the core question. The position is stated in the introduction, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The essay lacks specific examples or a clear explanation of how 'too many choices' impacts daily life, instead focusing on job market shifts. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly supports the specific question asked rather than drifting into a general discussion about technology.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'in addition' and 'further more', which are used to link loosely related ideas. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the topic of 'choices' and the 'impact of AI' is abrupt. The conclusion does not effectively summarise the main points or restate the position clearly, as it introduces new ideas about the future of AI rather than synthesising the previous arguments. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. Phrases like 'advancement of technology' and 'large in number' are used multiple times. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'the word are bit change' (the world has changed a bit) and 'modernized of technology'. Some vocabulary is used incorrectly, which occasionally forces the reader to infer the intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary and focus on accurate collocations, avoiding the repetition of basic phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some of the individuals thinks', 'the ratio of employs... is increases'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making them difficult to follow. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
