Student answer (Band 5.5)
Certain individuals think that these days we have numerous choices. I completely agree with this statement and will discuss my views in upcoming paragraphs.
The most compelling reason for believing this is that in every field such as food, clothing and electronic appliances we have a large number of choices because every different product quality depends on its price.
For example, if we want to buy furniture for our house we can simply visit to furniture shop and the seller will suggest us things according to our budget. If, we have a good budget then we would able to buy high quality product. Moreover, to fulfill everyone’s need industries have to create alot of choices so that people can afford things according to the money they have. To exemplify, individuals earn money according to their job however their are large number of people who have normal salary, so it their would we only countable choices than these individuals will fail to buy that product or thing.
In addition to this, choices depends on personal preference of all individuals although, if choices will decrease than the demand of products will also decrease because of not fulfilling individuals personal choice. For instance, factories analyse the demand of the product in market and then create different quality products at different price range so, if choices will decrease it will result in loss of demand as well as popularity. Consequently, choices help industries to get higher demand and make much more profit.
In conclusion, I believe that high number of choices play vital role in fulfilling needs of individuals and helping sectors to get higher demand.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that we have too many choices. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. The argument focuses heavily on the economic necessity of choices for businesses and consumers, but it lacks depth regarding the psychological or social implications of 'too many' choices, which is often the core of this debate. While the position is consistent, the supporting examples, such as the furniture shop scenario, are a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should explore the nuance of the topic—for example, discussing whether this abundance leads to decision fatigue or anxiety, rather than just focusing on market demand.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'In addition to this', and 'Consequently' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition 'if choices will decrease than the demand' is grammatically clunky and affects the logical progression. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'it their would we only countable choices', which makes the sentence difficult to follow. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help the essay read more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'product', and 'good budget'. There are also some noticeable word-choice errors, such as 'it their would we only countable choices' and 'alot of choices'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'demand', 'popularity', and 'personal preference', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive, generic nouns like 'things' or 'stuff'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect verb forms ('choices depends'), misuse of articles, and awkward sentence construction ('if choices will decrease than the demand'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage in conditional sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct structure of conditional sentences (e.g., 'If choices decreased, demand would fall').
