Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people accept that nowadays we have too many choices. I agree with this statement.

Technology improves the way of livings. If we want to go from Sialkot to Karachi, we many choices to go whether on bus, bike, car, train or Aero plane. If we go on bike than a lot of time is required to reach there, if we go on car then a lot of time is required but not like bike. If we go on bus then remarkably time is required but when we travel on aeroplane then just 2 to 3 hours required to travel this long distance. So by today technology, we have many choices. But in the past we have no choices like that.

Today, we have internet. We have online stores where we can buy everything from poor quality to top class or premium quality. Today people do not want to go market or in stores. They prefer to buy all sort of things in home on online websites like daraz and shopify etc.

If anyone wants to start their business then there is big choice to grow up by advertising on social media platforms like facebook, youtube, tiktok and twitter etc. This thing helps people in getting their favourite thing on online stores or websites.

Overall, if you want to do anything in your life you have many options to in many ways, like wants to start business you have option to grow up by advertisement, wants to travel you have option to travel on car, bus or bike etc. I agree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that we have too many choices, but the development is limited. While you provide examples like transportation and online shopping, the arguments remain superficial. The prompt asks 'to what extent' you agree, but you do not explore the potential downsides of having too many choices (e.g., decision fatigue or anxiety), which would have provided a more balanced and sophisticated discussion. The ideas are repetitive, particularly in the conclusion, where you simply restate the examples provided in the body paragraphs rather than synthesizing your position. To improve, aim to explore the implications of your argument more deeply rather than just listing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is mechanical and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple sentence starters like 'If we go...' and 'Today...'. There is a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices to link ideas; for instance, the transition between the transportation example and the internet example is abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, as they consist mostly of a list of examples rather than a cohesive argument. Using a wider range of linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast' would help improve the flow and logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive. Phrases like 'a lot of time is required' and 'we have many choices' are used repeatedly, which limits the range. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'way of livings' (should be 'way of life') and 'go market' (should be 'go to the market'). You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'advertising' and 'social media platforms', but the overall range is narrow. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise synonyms and collocations rather than repeating the same simple structures and vocabulary throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence attempts, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'we many choices to go whether on bus' (missing verb and incorrect preposition usage) and 'in home on online websites' (should be 'at home'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct prepositional phrases will significantly improve your accuracy.
