Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed that in recent times, people have more choices than ever before. I completely agree with this view because globalisation has expanded people's access to products, services and opportunities, while technological advancements have made a vast range of information available through the internet all over the world.
To begin with, it is an undeniable fact that due to globalisation and industrialisation all the world's nations have opened their gates for scholars and businessmen, and for every person who wants to improve their lifestyles, financial prosperity, etc. Every person in any country can go anywhere around the world to get a good life of their choice. This has not only made nations with growing economy but also helped in blending of different culture around the worlds. For instance, although international migration was considerably more difficult in the past, people nowadays have far many opportunities to relocate and pursue their dream lifestyles.
Another main reason is that, science and technology has made so many advancement especially in communications and machineries. Internet has made a significant impact on the communications all over the world. It has been a great tool which created so many opportunities for everyone around the world. Education, trading, cultures, media, art and many more sectors gave their pressures many opportunities to pursue what they want to achieve. From education to acting careers, internet gave too many choices for everyone to do what they want to do. For example, today a student with an interest in rocket science can read all the resources and studies that have been made in the past years on the internet, people have so many choices for their career as well as their life.
To conclude, due to the fact that every nation opened their borders to everyone around the world gave so many options to everyone to do what they want and the internet provided every single resources that have given many choices to people what they want to achieve both in their personal and professional life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas regarding globalisation and technology are relevant and well-supported with examples, such as international migration and access to educational resources. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; the essay focuses heavily on the 'opportunities' provided by these factors rather than exploring the nuance of 'too many' choices (e.g., the psychological burden of choice). While the position is clear, the depth of analysis could be improved by discussing the potential downsides or the complexity of having an overwhelming number of options to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Another main reason', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, in the final paragraph, the sentence structure is somewhat run-on and lacks smooth flow. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the paragraphing and linking could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'globalisation', 'industrialisation', and 'prosperity'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'gave their pressures many opportunities' and 'provided every single resources'. These errors do not impede communication but demonstrate a lack of precision. To improve, the student should focus on collocations and ensure that word forms (singular/plural) are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'science and technology has made', 'internet gave') and article usage. Some sentences are clunky, such as 'due to the fact that every nation opened their borders... gave so many options', which lacks a clear subject for the main clause. While the errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, they occur frequently enough to limit the score to a 6.0.
