Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on the issue of excessive choice. However, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the main arguments regarding stress and decision-making fatigue are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The examples provided, such as Netflix and online shopping, are functional but could be expanded to better illustrate the impact of these choices on modern life. To improve, you must ensure you reach the word count by providing more detailed explanations and perhaps a counter-argument to create a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'To cite an example', and 'In conclusion' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'after that they are thinking its right choice or not'. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your pronouns and references clearly point back to the intended nouns to improve the overall logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'many', 'different', and 'confused'. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'made different verity' (variety) and 'peso their career' (pursue). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic of consumerism and decision-making. Using synonyms and more sophisticated collocations will help you convey your ideas with greater precision and style, moving beyond simple, repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'people having many choices to create difficulties' (people have many choices which create difficulties) and 'when they buying are confused' (when they are buying, they are confused). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While your meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits your score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and missing auxiliary verbs.
