Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people have a wide range of choices. The development in technology and the modernization has increased the number of choices to be made. I completely agree with that, I think this is generally a positive development.
This is partially noticeable in areas such as education, business, and entertainment, although this can sometimes leads to difficulties during decision making.
One major advantage of having numerous choices is that people can find out products and services that better suits their personality. People can also find quality food and clothes while having variety of choices.
For instance, when buying a smartphone, people can choose of hundreds of different brands and can select the one which is more reliable and user friendly.
Another benefit is that people can have different choices in education and employment. It can help people in choosing the best educational institute and also through social media they can figure out different job opportunities and then they can select the one that suits them.
However, having too many choices can sometimes have negative impact. People may feel confused and stressed during decision making as too many choices can cause overthinking and second thoughts. Nevertheless, through proper advices from experts and professionals, people can make better decisions.
In conclusion, although having too many choices can have a lot of benefits and it can be advantageous but sometimes having too many choices can make it difficult to make the correct decision. Overall, i believe this is a positive development and it helps a lot in different ways.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the abundance of choice is a positive development. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the examples regarding smartphones and education. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument about 'products and services that better suit their personality' is a good starting point but lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific details or logical consequences. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, though it repeats the prompt's phrasing slightly too much.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'Another benefit', and 'However' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel a bit mechanical. For example, the shift between the benefits and the drawbacks could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is mostly accurate, though some sentences could be linked more tightly to improve the flow of ideas. Overall, the structure is coherent and supports the development of your argument effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'modernization', 'educational institute', and 'job opportunities'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'find out products' (should be 'find products') and 'through proper advices' (advice is an uncountable noun and should not be pluralized). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'this can sometimes leads to' (subject-verb agreement error: should be 'lead') and 'variety of choices' (missing article: 'a variety of'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with comma usage in complex sentences. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your score.
