Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. There are many people who will agree with the statement whereas, some people will disagree with the statement. In this essay we will discuss both the viewpoints before coming to a conclusion.
On the one hand, people agree that in today's world we have so many choices. It can be any product from normal household to modern technology, everything has choice. There is a very large market for the consumers and to full fill this requirement companies are producing same product with different qualities.
Moreover, if we go to supermarket there are same products with tons of different flavours and qualities.
On the other hand, people will disagree with the statement. There are products which don't have much choice, therefore people don't agree with this. For example, there are not many products available in gluten free. However, many people are going to changing there diet requirement . Even for vegan people there are very few products available. Moreover, there is a need of some products that need more choice.
In conclusion, I agree with the statement that there are too many choices out there. I think it is very good because everyone has different needs and requirements. Moreover, some products are really expensive and people will not be able to afford it , so it is important that people have different choices for their requirement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you present both sides, the arguments remain superficial. For instance, the point about gluten-free products is a good start but lacks depth or a clear connection to the broader debate on consumer choice. Your position is stated in the conclusion, but it would be more effective to establish a clear stance in the introduction. To improve, ensure you fully explore your examples and provide a more comprehensive analysis to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a higher level of critical thinking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between discussing supermarket products and the conclusion is abrupt. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your overall argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'there are' and 'products'. Phrases like 'full fill this requirement' (should be 'fulfill') and 'changing there diet requirement' (should be 'their dietary requirements') indicate issues with word choice and spelling. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. Instead of repeating 'products', try using synonyms like 'commodities', 'goods', or 'consumer items' to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally hinder clarity, such as 'there are same products' (missing 'the') and 'people will not be able to afford it' (should be 'them' to agree with 'products'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical errors and practice incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses or relative clauses, while ensuring they remain error-free.
