Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. I partly agree with this statement because although having many options can also make decision-making difficult and stressful.

On the one hand , having a wide range of choices has several advantages. First, people can select products and services according to their personal needs and budgets. For example, when we buying mobile phone they are available in many models and shapes. We are confusion ,what type of mobile we buy.

On the other hand, when their are many options it creates problem who is buy and who is not buy. In this way man can not select anything at a time . He choose thins after a lot of thinking, in he lost his time and effort. If many options he can not select any option with out thinking. He select the daily use items according to his needs . In conclusion, i believe that modern society provides people with more choices than ever before. In this time people has many resources of income. They get many chances of progress. With the help of these resources they create many option for him . In this way , they can elect many things according to their on choice. In my opinion , it is good for a man that he has many options to get thins according to their own choice. It makes the man life better.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the pros and cons of having many choices, but the position is not fully developed. The essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While you mention that choices make decision-making difficult, the explanation is repetitive and lacks specific, well-supported examples. The conclusion introduces new ideas about income and progress that were not previously established, which weakens the overall task response. To improve, ensure you meet the word count and focus on extending your main points with clear, logical reasoning rather than repeating the same concepts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often interrupted by unclear phrasing. While you use transition signals like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. For instance, the transition between discussing mobile phones and the general difficulty of choosing is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'it creates problem who is buy and who is not buy', which makes it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring each sentence builds logically on the previous one will enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'many', and 'things'. There are also frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'we buying mobile phone' instead of 'when we buy mobile phones' and 'elect many things' instead of 'select many items'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations, while ensuring that your word choices are accurate and appropriate for the context of an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('people has many resources'), article usage, and sentence structure ('If many options he can not select any option with out thinking'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as missing auxiliary verbs or incorrect word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound before attempting more complex structures.
