Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, some people believe that we have too many choices in our life. I strongly agree with this statement. In this essay, I will discuss my opinion. Firstly, in the past people had less choices. For example, in many country Cyprus, my grandparents only one or two shops in Strovoles. they had only few clothes and few foods. Life was simple and not stressful. But nowadays, we have many supermarkets and many choices, so people are confused. Secondly, too many choices create stress and waste time, For example, when I go to buy a mobile phone, there are 100 models. I watch many videos and i am confused which one is good. Also in supermarket, there are 20 types of milk and bread, so people spend too much time to choose. this is not good for mental health. and the other people feel stress because they want to chose best one. some people say many choices are good because we have freedom. they say we can choose cheap and best product. this is true to some extent. For example, if many choices are available, price will be low and quality will be high. but I think disadvantages is more than advantage. In conclusion, I agree that nowadays we have too many choices. This makes life stressful and confusing. Government and people should try to make life simple. I strongly agree that we have too many choices is important to everyone of our life and the life is short so my.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons, such as the stress caused by excessive options and the impact on decision-making time. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the counter-argument regarding freedom and lower prices is mentioned but not fully explored or integrated into the main argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed explanations or nuanced examples. The conclusion is slightly abrupt and contains a fragmented sentence at the end, which detracts from the overall task completion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the run-on sentences and the abrupt ending. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better punctuation to connect related thoughts more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific words like 'supermarkets', 'stressful', and 'freedom'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple, repetitive phrasing (e.g., 'many choices', 'many supermarkets'). There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'in many country Cyprus' instead of 'in many countries, such as Cyprus'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the other people'), subject-verb agreement ('my grandparents only one or two shops'), and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing capital letters at the start of sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for punctuation will help improve your score.
