Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, it is often argued that some individuals think that nowadays people have a vast amount of options that may vary based on one’s preference. This essay will examine the reasons why some people believe that there are a lot choices before explaining why I agree with the statement.
As we entered the 21st century, there are a lot of new advanced technologies wherein inventions are also im trends. This generation has many things to offer. For instance, 1990s students used traditional facilities such as libraries to research and read books, however, it has been improved. With the development of technology, students nowdays use artificial intelligence like ChatGPT, Genesis and Microsoft CoPilot for searching information. Moreover, as physical books are outdated, students read through e-books, wattpad or online for the reason that there are a lot of choices to choose from.
Furthermore, companies have different strategies to promote their manufactured goods by advertising. This will lead to more options for shoppers. For example, in the early years, people need to go to physical stores to shop and buy the items, nevertheless, nowadays people can do online shopping with different variations of products. It is way easier and more comfortable than before. Since this era is fast moving and there are tight competitions among firms, they make sure that all commodities have high qualities. In addition, creativity and uniqueness are substantial goals of each corporation to encourage buyers to purchase from them.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that people nowadays have a signifant number of selections. With the different variations of products, designs, person’s preferences, and technologies, there are a considerable amount to choose from.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the increase in choices in the modern era, specifically focusing on technology and consumer goods. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like ChatGPT and online shopping, the analysis could be deeper; for instance, you could explore the psychological impact of having too many choices, such as decision fatigue, to better address the 'to what extent' aspect of the prompt. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the implications of your examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'for instance,' 'moreover,' and 'furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. For example, the shift from discussing technology to consumer goods could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes imprecise, such as in the phrase 'wherein inventions are also im trends,' which disrupts the logical progression of the argument. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used more naturally would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantial goals,' 'commodities,' and 'variations.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'im inventions are also im trends' and 'a considerable amount to choose from' (which lacks a noun). Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'signifant number of selections.' To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct collocations. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated synonyms for common words like 'good' or 'many' will help you move toward a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'nowdays' (spelling), 'there are a lot choices' (missing preposition), 'people need to go' (tense inconsistency with 'early years'), and 'signifant' (spelling). Additionally, some sentence constructions are slightly clunky, such as 'it is often argued that some individuals think that.' To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and spelling. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will significantly boost your score in this criterion.
