Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's modern world we have multiple options for each and everything. We have numerous options in marketing, food, entertainment, groceries, etc. So, these options give us a freedom or make us independent to select beneficial and good quality material. We face difficulty in choosing the right path due to multiple options.
On the one hand, some people believe that we have too many choices or options in this contemporary society, but it can be confusing and time wasting because when you have multiple options for one thing you will be confused to select one right thing so it creates confusion and also time wasting process to search reliable material. It can be the waste of money if you do not chose the right thing. For example, when we buy mobile phone we have multiple models, colors, versions, prices etc so we have to choose one reliable phone from these multiple choices which is a time consuming process as well as confusing.
On the other hand, we have some benefits of too many choices in this society. Multiple options give us the freedom to choose right path according to the interest. Even we have multiple choices in the education like medical, engineering, arts, ICS etc so individuals choose the right option according to their interest. So too many choices give us the opportunity to complete own interest. And also it give us the choices in food, clothes, grocery so we can choose healthy food, branded clothes and products.
Hence, we can not deny the importance of too many options because it give us the exposure to find new things with multiple specifications. So, we should extract good option from too many choices. However, this excess can cause confusion, anxiety, and wasted time. Therefore, it is important for people to learn how to limit their options and focus on what truly matters to them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether we have too many choices nowadays. The response discusses both the negative aspects, such as confusion and wasted time, and the positive aspects, such as freedom of choice and opportunities for personal interest. Ideas are generally relevant, but some points, particularly in the introduction and conclusion, tend to be repetitive (e.g., repeating 'multiple options' and 'too many choices'). The ideas are supported with some relevant examples, such as buying mobile phones and choosing educational streams like medical or engineering. However, the development lacks depth in places, pulling the score toward Band 6. Overall, the prompt is adequately addressed with a clear stance maintained throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response features a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides of the issue, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The student relies heavily on repetitive transitional phrases such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'So'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and pronoun use can be imprecise, such as jumping between first-person plural ('we') and second-person ('you') within the same sentence. Despite these issues, the progression of ideas is generally logical and easy to follow, supporting a solid Band 6 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The lexical resource displayed is adequate for the task. The student attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary society', 'specifications', and 'exposure', though there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation (e.g., 'complete own interest' instead of 'pursue our interests', or 'chose' instead of 'choose'). Repetition of basic words like 'options', 'choices', and 'multiple' is noticeable throughout the text. Spelling and word formation are generally accurate, and vocabulary errors do not impede communication, placing the response comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. Examples of complex structures include conditional clauses and relative clauses (e.g., 'when you have multiple options for one thing you will be confused'). However, there are noticeable grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, such as missing commas after introductory phrases, tense inconsistencies, and subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'it give us' instead of 'it gives us'). Despite these errors, the meaning is rarely obscured, and communication is maintained, justifying a Band 6 score for grammatical accuracy.
