Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people says that the modern world provides so many choices to everyone, while there can be an argument that the wide range of alternatives can sometimes cause confusion and stress. I partly disagree with this statement, as having many options provides freedom to everyone on what service to choose and how to live their life.
On one hand, having a lot of options can create confusion, which may lead to delaying of decision-making. In supermarket, for example, a product which has many similar product beside it with a slight difference in their price, ingredient and packaging, makes the chice diffecult and may cause dissatisfaction after a purchase. Similarly, shopping online can be far more worse, increasing the screentime, while choosing a right product, comparing it with numerous of similar products, and reading the reviews, can make people rage and not buying anything after all that research can be very dissatisfied.
On the other hand, having a wide range of choices can improve quality of life fro everyone. Having competition can encourage companies to deliver better product at low prices and more convienent services. For instance, consumers can now choose from different brands food, clothing and electronic items, according to their budget and need. People also have more opportunities in education and employment from the past. A student can select different kinds of courses, universities and study abroad options. Similarly, a adult can find a job in different fields and even apply for job abroad.
In conclusion, I agree that too many choices can sometimes cause stress and anxiety. Nevertheless, I believe the advantages of having choices in life outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether there are too many choices nowadays and discussing both sides of the issue. The introduction clearly states, 'I partly disagree with this statement, as having many options provides freedom to everyone.' The body paragraphs provide relevant examples, such as comparing products in supermarkets and online shopping, as well as discussing educational and employment opportunities. However, some ideas could be extended further; for instance, the discussion on consumer choices in supermarkets touches upon confusion and dissatisfaction, but the explanation remains slightly general. Nevertheless, the position is maintained throughout, and the main tenets of the prompt are well-covered, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical organizational structure with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader, such as 'On one hand,' 'Similarly,' and 'On the other hand.' However, there are instances where referencing and cohesion are slightly mechanical or faulty, such as 'far more worse' and abrupt transitions between sentences. Paragraph two jumps quickly from supermarkets to online shopping without a smooth bridging phrase. Overall, the logical progression is clear enough to secure a solid score in this area.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'dissatisfaction,' 'screentime,' 'convienent,' and 'opportunities.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'says' instead of 'say,' 'chice' instead of 'choice,' 'diffecult' instead of 'difficult,' 'worse' used incorrectly with 'far more,' and 'a adult' instead of 'an adult.' Furthermore, 'convienent' is misspelled. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occur regularly, though they rarely impede overall communication, placing this response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'a product which has many similar product beside it with a slight difference...' and 'while choosing a right product, comparing it with numerous of similar products...'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, including subject-verb agreement ('Some people says'), singular/plural noun discrepancies ('many similar product' instead of 'products'), missing articles ('In supermarket'), and awkward phrasing ('not buying anything after all that research can be very dissatisfied'). Complex structures are often somewhat faulty, resulting in run-on sentences that reduce grammatical fluency.
