Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is widely believed that nowadays we have too many options to choose from.I totally agree with this statement.
The abundance of resources is one of the major reasons that we have a lot of choices today. In the past, humans led a hard life as limited choices were available but in the modern world, humans started exploring different ideas for their ease.
Whether its education, sports, households, vehicle or anything else, we have created too many options to live a life our choice and create more ease for ourselves. For example, if anyone wants to have a car today, he has a lot of options to explore and this was not very common in the past.
Another big reason, that we believe we have alot of choices today is by looking into our past. In the past, humas didnot have these many options but as soon as we started exploring things, we created different ways to create ease for ourselves. For instance, for centuries in the past, the only mean of knowledge known to mankind was books which also was not widely available to everyone. So, it was difficult to get knowledge. But in this digital world, we have explored many new ways of sharing knowledge. Now, students can watch videos, read articles, get online lecture, and read research papers. So, now-a-days we have too many choices to gain knowledge, instead of relying on one mean.
In conclusion, we have too many choices today and this has created a lot of ease as well as competition in our lives

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by stating a clear position of agreement from the beginning and sustaining it throughout the essay. The student provides relevant ideas regarding the abundance of resources and technological evolution, supporting them with examples such as buying a car and accessing knowledge. However, some ideas feel slightly repetitive, particularly the arguments concerning past versus present conditions, which limit full development. Despite this, the main position is clearly communicated and supported, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, even if some aspects are a bit generalized or under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct points, such as general resources versus the specific example of accessing knowledge. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Another big reason, that we believe we have alot of choices today is by looking into our past' are awkward and unnatural. Furthermore, referencing and logical progression occasionally falter due to repetitive phrasing and minor structural disconnects between sentences, placing this performance securely within Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'abundance of resources', 'exploration', and 'digital world'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, awkward collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text, including 'alot' (instead of 'a lot'), 'mean' (used instead of 'means' or 'medium'), and punctuation spacing errors like 'knowledge.But'. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect the limitations characteristic of Band 5, where vocabulary choice lacks sufficient precision and flexibility for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences, such as 'In the past, humans led a hard life as limited choices were available...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding article usage, pluralization ('human' instead of 'humans', 'mean' instead of 'means'), comma splices, and run-on structures. Punctuation errors are also apparent, such as missing spaces after periods and commas. Because these errors occur frequently and occasionally strain the reading process, the response fits the Band 5 descriptor profile for grammar.
