Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that we do have too many choices nowadays, supporting this view with ideas about career options, modern certifications, and side jobs. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For example, the point about having multiple roles is reiterated several times without being fully extended into deeper arguments or distinct examples. The ideas remain at a general level rather than being thoroughly explored. According to the band descriptors, the writer addresses all parts of the task with a clear position, but the ideas are under-developed in places, placing this response at Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks proper paragraphing conventions, utilizing a sequence of short, block-like chunks that do not adequately separate distinct main ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal, mechanical, or mismanaged, leading to an absence of clear logical progression throughout the text. For instance, the transition 'coming to the modern technology' is awkward and informal. Referencing and pronoun use are frequently unclear, as seen in phrases like 'these things help us' and 'so it makes them strong enough'. While there is an overall attempt to arrange the response logically around the theme of modern choices, the lack of effective cohesive devices and proper paragraph breaks restricts the flow, matching the Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by numerous spelling and word-choice errors. Examples of these errors include 'modern days creates plenty chioces', 'pursce a carrer', 'financilally indepent', 'manging', and 'learing'. The writer attempts to use some less common vocabulary such as 'certifications', 'independent', and 'workshops', but the inaccurate spelling and awkward collocations like 'double employment roles' significantly reduce precision. The range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors causing difficulty for the reader, which aligns with a Band 5.0 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic conjunctions or missing punctuation entirely. There are frequent and systematic errors in basic grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, such as missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences ('it is often argued', 'coming to the modern technology'), missing articles ('provides chance', 'lead the stress free life'), and incorrect verb forms ('belives its wide choices creating'). Attempts at complex structures are often faulty and lack control, leading to frequent errors that obscure meaning. These characteristics place the grammatical control firmly at Band 4.5.
