Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position ('I absolutely agree with the statement') and exploring areas where choices have increased, such as social media, food, clothing, and jobs. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, the mention of social media being a 'multi limbed development platform' is unclear and under-developed. While the writer extends some ideas with examples like changing fields after '+2', the reasoning tends to generalise without deep elaboration. The response meets the 250-word minimum comfortably, but the overall depth aligns best with Band 5.5 descriptors, earning a rounded 5.5 for limited and somewhat repetitive development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, attempting a logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs discussing social media, lifestyle choices, and personal experience. However, the overall organisation is hindered by abrupt transitions and faulty cohesive devices. Phrases like 'Meanwhile, choices should be consider' and 'Talking about my experience' feel mechanical and disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun shifts ('if someone... then they... us'). Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak and repetitive, restricting the score to Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, touching on everyday and familiar topics like 'interconnected world', 'online shopping platforms', and 'cuisines'. However, there are notable word-choice errors, awkward collocations, and non-standard phrasing, such as 'multi limbed development platform', 'proving employment' (instead of providing), and 'increment in choices'. Spelling errors such as 'miltiple', 'towars', 'feilds', and 'collage' also appear. These lexical limitations and errors place the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'In today's increasingly interconnected world, there are various opportunities...' and conditional structures like 'if someone is not interested towards doing jobs then they can enter into business'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people have different choice'), incorrect prepositions ('choose in'), and tense inconsistencies ('When i am doing shopping'). Punctuation and capitalization errors (e.g., lowercase 'i') are also persistent. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty, making Band 5.0 the most appropriate score.
