Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people argued that in present world, people have many options to choose from. I agree to this statement and believe that people have range of options in different aspects of life.
In modern days, people have many choices to make for themselves in different aspects of life, from studing to choosing careers and places to settle. People can do whatever they wish. Compared to past, where people have limited options for instance, there were fewer career options and people usually opted two to three common fields such as medicine, engineering etc. At present people can choose different fields such as IT, robotics etc which were no available in past. The trends have shifted with the technological development, everything has changed, from foods we eat to careers we choose.
I strongly believe that many past things have changed and now we have varied options. for instance, with the advent of technology, our mode of communication has changed. In middle age, we had landlines but then we moved to cellphones. Inaddution, medium of communication has become so advanced that now one can communicate via text, chats, voice notes, video call etc. Similarly, if we talk about food in past, we dont have much restaurants, and most people cook their meal at homes but now we have several options, from take ways to instant and ready meals or fast food.
Inconclusion, today individuals have many options or choices to make. technology has made our lives even more change, now people can choose new foods and variety of food types are there to eat. I strongly believe that people choices have shifted and changed greatly as compared to past.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating their position agreeing with the prompt and supporting it with relevant examples such as career choices, communication methods, and food options. The position remains clear throughout the response, and ideas are extended, though some examples tend to generalise slightly. For instance, the discussion on careers moves from past limitations (medicine and engineering) to present fields like IT and robotics, which directly supports the prompt. The development is mostly relevant and satisfies the main requirements of the task. However, a deeper exploration of why having too many choices might be positive or negative would elevate the response further. Overall, the ideas are sufficiently developed to meet the criteria for a Band 6.5, leaning towards a solid Band 6 performance under IELTS descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is arranged into four paragraphs, providing a logical overall structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs supporting the main argument, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'Inaddution' (a spelling error for In addition) and 'Inconclusion' (In conclusion) are used awkwardly or combined into single words. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother, particularly in the second body paragraph where transitions between communication and food are rather abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but mechanical repetition of cohesive devices slightly lowers the overall flow, aligning the text with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'technological development,' 'advent of technology,' and 'instant and ready meals.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'studing' instead of 'studying,' 'no available' instead of 'not available,' and 'take ways' instead of 'takeaways.' Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary used is sufficient to communicate the main ideas without causing significant difficulty for the reader. The lexical range is appropriate for a Band 6 level, showing an ability to discuss modern trends and technological shifts, albeit with recurring mechanical slips in spelling and collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and comparative structures (e.g., 'Compared to past, where people have limited options...'). However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly regarding tense consistency and article usage. Examples include 'Many people argued' instead of 'Many people argue,' 'past things have changed' instead of 'things in the past have changed,' and missing articles such as 'in past' and 'at homes.' Punctuation is also occasionally weak, with run-on constructions and spacing errors. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band, fitting comfortably within the Band 6 descriptors.
