Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position of total agreement regarding whether people have too many choices nowadays. The response contains relevant ideas, such as technological advancements and the evolution of the education system, supporting the main argument. However, the development of these ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on education relies heavily on the general notion of having career and study choices without providing deeper elaboration or concrete external examples. Furthermore, the conclusion introduces a new idea about adverse effects that contradicts the stated total agreement position. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion at the sentence level is frequently faulty or mechanical, as seen with transitional phrases like 'The reason of agreement will be discuss' and repetitive sentence openings ('The primary reason...', 'Moreover, another reason...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun shift in 'live our lives with your own rules'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, but the overall progression could be smoother and more logically linked. These issues place the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts related to education, technology, and consumer choices ('technological advancement', 'fashion', 'cosmetic product'). However, there are noticeable limitations and numerous word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text. Examples include 'as compares to the past', 'carrer', 'can not difference between', and 'balnaced way'. Furthermore, spelling mistakes ('carrer', 'cosmatic', 'balnaced') and awkward word forms ('too many choice' instead of 'choices') occur. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The candidate attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in sentence structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors that cause noticeable difficulty for the reader. Notable issues include subject-verb agreement ('Many industries such as clothing, fashion has been advancing'), incorrect verb forms ('will be discuss', 'years passes'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('these too many choices sometime have adverse effect on life too'). The high frequency of basic and complex structural errors means the grammar does not consistently achieve error-free control, aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
