Student answer (Band 4.5)

Yes, Exactly nowadays we have alots of choices. We have very easy access to everything like education, video games, shopping, watching movies or seasons, get together with our friends or family. Eveyone carrys smart phone in their hands and they can easily have access to every thing. Students can have easily access to the education and can play games for the entertaiment, and they can have communicate with their classfellows. And now we are able to talk miles away within a moment. Like we have option, for audio call or video call if we talk to someone withing the city or out of the city or country.

In the recent times, people have very limited choices like they don't have easily access to education or don't have much resources for the entertaiment. Then, the people walk miles away to get education. And then they don't have any secure or speedy way of communication. And if they have to travel from one place to another place they took a lot of time and efforts to move from one place to another place. Because they don't have any convience for traveling like motor cycle, car, bus, and aeroplane etc.

In my opinion, it's a very good progress or achievement as human beings. That in a very short time we have explored the world very much. And invent many products or things for our eassiness.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether we have too many choices nowadays by contrasting modern life with the past. However, the word count requirement of 250 words is not met, as the response contains only 232 words, which impacts task fulfillment. The position is somewhat clear, but the ideas remain quite superficial and under-developed, relying on simple lists of examples such as education, video games, shopping, and communication. While the contrast between past and present is drawn, it lacks the depth and extension expected for a higher band. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, leading to a band score of 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into three brief paragraphs, attempting to structure the introduction, body contrast, and conclusion. However, the overall progression is basic and sometimes disjointed. Cohesive devices are used very simply and repetitively (e.g., 'And', 'Then', 'And if'), and referencing is occasionally unclear or missing. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow between sentences within the paragraphs is weak, creating a choppy reading experience. There is a lack of sophisticated transitions to guide the reader smoothly through the arguments. Overall, the organizational structure reflects Band 5 characteristics.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive throughout the text. The student relies on everyday words and phrases such as 'lots of choices', 'smart phone', 'entertainment', and 'things for our eassiness'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'alots' instead of 'a lot', 'carrys' instead of 'carries', 'classfellows' instead of 'classmates', and 'eassiness' instead of 'easiness' or 'convenience'. The lexical range is limited to minimally adequate for conveying very simple ideas, but the frequency of errors and lack of less common vocabulary place this firmly in the Band 4 to 5 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The text demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or poorly constructed compound sentences, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are constant grammatical errors across the response, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'Everyone carrys'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'get together' instead of 'getting together', 'get education' instead of 'getting an education'), and faulty preposition or article usage. Punctuation is also problematic with random sentence fragments. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 4 level of grammatical accuracy.
