Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether we have too many choices nowadays, but it falls short of fully exploring the issue. The position is somewhat discernible in the introduction, but the ideas are repetitive and underdeveloped. Furthermore, the student failed to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 220 words instead of the required 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall development of the task. Examples such as choosing a phone or career are mentioned briefly, but they lack adequate extension and support. Consequently, the task achievement is limited, aligning closely with a band 4.5 or 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text is organized into basic paragraphs, attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by poor sentence construction and inadequate cohesive devices. Phrases like 'on the other hand' and 'overall' are used, but the overall logical flow is weak. Referencing is often unclear (e.g., 'it was very therate people'), and sentences tend to be disjointed. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks clarity, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument smoothly. This corresponds to band 4.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and occasionally non-existent due to severe spelling and word-form errors. Examples include 'wrind rang' (wide range), 'therate', and 'confusens'. While the student attempts to use topic-related terms like 'choices', 'confusion', 'career', and 'freedom', the numerous lexical inaccuracies and limited range significantly impede communication and strain the reader. The writer relies heavily on simple words and basic phrasing, failing to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. This performance reflects a band 4.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the response. The text contains a very limited range of structures, and almost every sentence features significant errors in basic grammar, tense, word order, and punctuation. Examples such as 'it is give a freedom', 'many people too many choices can create confusion', and 'if many choise is avalible so easily better collection give me' demonstrate a fundamental lack of control over simple and complex sentence forms. Errors are frequent and often distort the intended meaning, matching the criteria for a band 4.0.
