Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's modern world, people have wide range of choices in almost every aspect of life including health, education, business, job, shopping and entertainment.some people believe that too many choices make life more difficult.I firmly agree with this statement because an excessive number of choices make confusion and decision making stressful.
On one hand, having more choices gives us more freedom and flexibility to choose whatever is best for us. For example in educational field students can choose variety of subjects in the universities according to their choices and interest and career. Similarly, people can have many choices during online shopping they can compare different products with their prices before making a purchase. This will allow people to make decision that suit with their needs and preferences.
On the other hand, too many choices can create stress and make it difficult for the people to select what is best for them or what is not. Sometimes it can be very time taking, people spend many hours on deciding which option suits them better while comparing and worrying about the wrong choices. For instance, the people who shop online founds it difficult having too many choices by comparing similar products with their prices and finding the best for them. Moreover, people can be dissatisfied with their decisions because they are constantly worrying about the other choices they have neglected thinking that other option would have been better.
In conclusion, although too many choices gives us freedom and flexibility, can also leads to stress sometimes and create confusion. Therefore, people should focus on the options only that would suit their interest completely rather than wasting time on considering the other alternatives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of having numerous choices and clearly stating a position in the introduction ("I firmly agree with this statement"). The main ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as educational subject selection and online shopping comparisons. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise slightly, and some points regarding decision fatigue could be developed further with greater depth. Overall, the prompt is well-addressed, fulfilling the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0, and fits comfortably within Band 7 standards for task response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. The response is structured into four distinct paragraphs, featuring an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used adequately to connect ideas, such as "On one hand," "On the other hand," "Similarly," and "In conclusion." However, referencing is occasionally repetitive, and some sentences lack smooth transitions between clauses. For instance, the transition in "For example in educational field students can choose..." lacks necessary punctuation and articles. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, demonstrating clear overall coherence that meets the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-specific terms such as "flexibility," "preferences," "decision fatigue," and "alternatives." There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are sometimes accompanied by inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as "educational field" instead of "the field of education" and "make confusion" instead of "cause confusion." Additionally, there are minor issues with word forms, such as "the people who shop online founds it difficult." These lexical errors do not impede communication, placing the response securely in the Band 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating the ability to construct conditional and relative clauses, such as "people who shop online founds it difficult having too many choices." However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including missing articles ("in educational field"), incorrect subject-verb agreement ("founds" instead of "find"), and run-on sentences or comma splices, particularly in the conclusion ("...flexibility,can also leads to..."). Punctuation and spacing issues, such as missing spaces after commas and periods throughout the text, are also noticeable. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the essay from achieving a higher band, making Band 6.0 the most appropriate descriptor.
