Student answer (Band 5.0)
currently most individuals feel that our choices are outrageous
Fisrtly i definitely disagree to the statement, because i bielive that every human being is free to have a personal choice or decision of their own in order to feel comfortable without regret. secondly in also depends on the type of choices that are being considered in the context.
However from a little experinced i had based on choice of food, am always selective when it comes to food due to some medical reason, i dont eat process foods and i dont eat fried food. so personally thats my choice so i dont see any reason to be judged as having too many choices.
On the other hand, i agree to an extent with statement given above, because too many choice can as well lead to making a wrong decision due to confusion. Additionally too many choices can lead lose of value to a particular thing because things are mostly valued when they are scarce and unavailable.
In conclusion i disgree with the statement because having a lot of options is much better that having limited choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student addresses the prompt by discussing whether we have too many choices today, presenting a somewhat mixed viewpoint. However, the response falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 186 words. This under-length impacts the full development of ideas as required by the band descriptors. While the student attempts to present arguments regarding personal freedom versus confusion and loss of value, the ideas remain underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples from own knowledge or experience. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 5 due to the limited development and failure to meet the minimum word count requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some organizational structure with basic paragraphing and sequencing markers such as 'Fisrtly', 'secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, overall progression is hindered by abrupt transitions and a lack of smooth flow between ideas. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, as seen in phrases like 'However from a little experinced i had'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas is somewhat disjointed, particularly regarding the shift between personal anecdotes and general statements. Referencing and substitution are occasionally unclear, matching the characteristics of a Band 5 performance.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that affect readability, such as 'Fisrtly' instead of 'Firstly', 'bielive', 'experinced', 'process foods' instead of 'processed foods', and 'lose' instead of 'loss'. The range of vocabulary is limited to everyday words and phrases, and attempts at less common lexical items are either absent or inaccurate. While the meaning remains mostly clear despite the errors, the lexical range and control do not exceed a Band 4.5, rounding to Band 5 for minimally adequate range with noticeable errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside a few faulty attempts at complex ones, such as 'because i bielive that every human being is free to have a personal choice or decision of their own in order to feel comfortable without regret.' Frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and basic grammar are present throughout the text, including missing apostrophes, capitalization of starting letters, and subject-verb agreement issues. These errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar performance firmly at Band 4.0.
