Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays we have many choices because of the modern technology. we have too many mentors for the guidence like if we are the student and we miss our classes then we can us ethe modern Ai tools to understand the lecture therefore now we have too many choices.

One of the major advantage of that is we can choose any thing according to our needs and wants. The competitions between the companies are providing the better products and the services. For example in nowadays mobile market we can choose mobile according to our needs and wants like if we want to buy an expensive phone then we can buy the i phone from the market but if a person cannot afford the i phone then he can buy a cheap product from the market just to fulfill his daily life needs.Secondly, more choices can be helpful in improving the quality of life. For example we can buy expensive fruits from the market but there are some disadvantages of this that can be harmful in the society.

One of the major disadvantage having too many choices is that the children that belong to the elite family they always try to buy some kind of the expensive stuff for their own self like they will try to buy new model of the i phone every year without any need just for the status. It will be difficult for them to control their desires in this way.

In conclusions, too much choice may lead to destruction of the life so in my point of view we have the choices that does not create problems for our life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt regarding whether we have too many choices nowadays. A position is presented, and some relevant ideas are introduced, such as the benefits of competitive markets providing diverse mobile phones and the educational advantages of modern AI tools. However, the development of these ideas is frequently limited and sometimes unclear, as seen in the rather sudden and vague mention of expensive fruits and their societal harm. Furthermore, the argument regarding children from elite families buying expensive phones touches on consumerism, but it is not fully linked back to the core premise of having 'too many choices' in a structured manner. Consequently, the response addresses the task only partially, exhibiting features of a Band 5 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organization with recognizable paragraph breaks, attempting to structure the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and underdeveloped thoughts. While some basic cohesive devices are employed, such as 'For example' and 'Secondly', referencing is occasionally unclear, notably with pronoun usage like 'that can be harmful in the society' where the antecedent is ambiguous. The concluding paragraph introduces a rather sweeping and disjointed final statement ('too much choice may lead to destruction of the life') rather than effectively synthesizing the main arguments presented earlier in the essay. These organizational and cohesive shortcomings align well with the Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words and phrases such as 'many choices', 'expensive', 'needs and wants', and 'market'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, including 'for the guidence', 'us ethe', 'major advantage of that', and 'elite family'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary or idiomatic phrasing are minimal, and some word choices cause slight strain for the reader, such as 'destruction of the life'. Overall, the lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, fitting the profile for a Band 5 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or poorly coordinated, and attempts at complex sentences often result in structural faults and significant punctuation errors. There are multiple mechanical and grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ('because of the modern technology'), incorrect preposition use ('in nowadays mobile market'), capitalization errors ('Ai', 'i phone'), and run-on sentences ('like if we are the student and we miss our classes then we can us ethe modern Ai tools to understand the lecture therefore now we have too many choices'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5 level of grammatical control.
