Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position that we have too many choices nowadays, particularly regarding careers, education, and lifestyle. The student attempts to extend ideas, such as discussing internet influence, flexible education, and parental support. However, some arguments remain somewhat repetitive and under-developed, particularly the brief mention of negative impacts like confusion. Overall, the ideas presented are relevant to the prompt, fulfilling the core requirements of Task 2. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, though paragraph boundaries and internal links could be managed more effectively. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, as seen in transitions like "Firstly", "Furthermore", and "Moreover". Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as "every individuals offered by either they can study...", which disrupts the logical flow. Progression is present, but occasional awkward phrasing hinders smoother transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as "content creator", "flexible education", and "traditional learning". However, there are numerous word-choice and collocation errors, such as "got more options in compared to past years", "the ambion have changed", and "people become more confuse after tacking too many options". Spelling errors like "ambion" (ambition), "coursces" (courses), "noticeble" (noticeable), and "negetive" (negative) also occur. These errors do not completely impede communication, pointing clearly to a Band 5.5 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative-like clauses (e.g., "after the rise of internet and online education, every individuals offered by..."). However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout, featuring frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, verb forms, and articles (e.g., "people got more options", "choice of career or other things get increase", "youth are misguide"). Punctuation and sentence structures are frequently faulty, causing some difficulty for the reader and restricting the score to Band 5.0.
