Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people argue that nowadays people have so many choices. I do agree with this opinion due to modernization of technology people have too many options.
In today's modern world everything is widely and excessive available. People have variety of options in such as fashion, clothing and travelling industries specially. For instance, if someone want to book their flights tickets or even plan their holidays there is so many airlines and tour planners are available. These uncountable options provide us better service as well as cheaper options. Once, travelling by aeroplane considerd as a luxury but now you can travel by air even a fraction of money. For instance, if we talk about even a very minor things like baby soaps and diapers, there are plenty of options of multiple brands.
Furthermore, sometimes having so many options can cause frustration among consumers. Everyday new products emerged which cause fear of missing out. For example, if a fitness trainer wants to buy a protein powder he has to go a lot of options available in the market. Most of the time the written information on the package not justify the actual product. Furthermore, due to cut throat competition among companies also provide so many options to consumer.
In my opinion, no doubt there are widely options available in every need of life which provide benefits most of the time but the quality we are all concerned about that is not in the picture.
The government must regulate widely expansion of industries and prodcuts and provide a database which options and products are reliable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that agrees with the prompt. The writer introduces relevant examples, such as fashion, clothing, travelling industries, and baby items, to support the argument. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the discussion on consumer frustration and market competition, which lacks depth in the explanation. The conclusion also introduces a new point regarding government regulation rather than summarising the main arguments. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some areas require better extension and development.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Ideas are generally ordered logically, moving from general examples of choice to the negative consequences, and finally to a personal opinion and recommendation. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty, mechanical, or used inappropriately (e.g., 'Furthermore, due to cut throat competition among companies also provide so many options to consumer'). Referencing and transitions between sentences can occasionally be jarring, leading to a somewhat disjointed reading experience. Paragraphing is present and serves to separate main ideas, but the logical progression between sentences within paragraphs needs smoother transitions to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'modernization', 'frustration', 'consumers', and 'regulation'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'widely and excessive available' instead of 'widely and excessively available', 'if someone want' instead of 'wants', and 'a lot of options available' instead of 'numerous options'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'emerged' used where 'emerge' is required, and 'prodcuts'. While communication is not severely impeded, these persistent lexical inaccuracies place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'due to modernization of technology people have' (missing punctuation or conjunction), 'if someone want to book their flights tickets' (singular/plural mismatch), and 'the written information on the package not justify' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is also weak in places, particularly in run-on sentences. These errors occasionally cause the reader some difficulty, though they do not completely impede overall communication, aligning with the Band 5 descriptors.
