Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contemporary world, Many individuals believe that nowadays human have too many choices as compared to past decades. I completely agree with this statement because todays youth have their own freedom to taking decision about their career plan as well as they have self choice to spend their life on their own way.

Firstly, With the evolution of technology and science the ability of thinking and understanding level of human is becoming more wider, Where as in past time people live their life how society expect with them. People had narrow mindset about independent lifestyle. People had not freedom to take decison about their life plans. They followed the rules which was create by dominative society. However, today people have rights and freedom to build their future plans by their own wish. For example, In our grandparents era they had not permission to marry with a person whom they want to do, instead they should start their new life with a person which is selected by their relatives but in modern era a person marry with else person whom he/her like and want to spend rest of their upcoming journey with them without any force. Therefore, nowadays generational people got lots of freedom on their life.

furthermore, With the time period, many people gradually losing their culture and adopting the another culture where they feel more comfortable and relax. Overall, people trying to live their life in their own expections, edge and route. For instance, a numerious amount of people abandon their traditions because they want to spend their life how they want, they donot want to spend their quality time on the boundries of culture.

In conclusion, I strongly agree with the people who believe that we have too many choices on our life because we have not pressure to survive our life on the expections of society. Today we can live our life without any fever of any factors,we can do each an everything what our soul and mind says us to do.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear stance that agrees with the statement that we have too many choices today compared to the past. The writer presents relevant ideas, such as career freedom and personal lifestyle choices, supported by examples like generational differences in marriage and societal expectations. However, some ideas remain slightly repetitive or under-developed, particularly in the third paragraph regarding culture. To reach a higher level, the arguments could be extended with more sophisticated analysis rather than general assertions, ensuring that every point directly and deeply explores the implications of having excessive choices in modern life.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, such as career decisions and cultural shifts. However, the progression is sometimes hampered by mechanical or repetitive cohesive devices, such as starting multiple sentences and paragraphs with transition words like 'Firstly', 'furthermore', and 'In conclusion' in a predictable manner. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun ambiguity in phrases like 'a person marry with else person whom he/she like'. To improve cohesion, the writer should use a wider variety of sophisticated linking words and ensure seamless transitions between sentences without relying on formulaic markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts and attempting some less common items such as 'contemporary world', 'dominative society', and 'generational people'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'human have too many choices', 'taking decision', 'self choice', and 'fever of any factors'. Spelling and word-choice inaccuracies occasionally hinder precision. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their lexical range and demonstrate greater control over word formation, collocation, and idiomatic phrasing to express ideas more naturally and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting ambitious structures such as conditional and relative clauses. Nevertheless, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('today youth have', 'people live their life how society expect'), article usage, prepositions ('marry with', 'on their life'), and tense consistency. Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and capitalization issues, are also present. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they cause frequent difficulty for the reader. Incorporating a wider variety of error-free complex structures and improving grammatical precision would significantly elevate this aspect of the writing.
