Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in agreement with the statement that we have too many choices nowadays. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. While the writer attempts to support the position with two main areas—technology and population—the arguments lack depth, relying on repetitive assertions rather than extended, fully realised points. For instance, the mention of AI technology and toys in the second paragraph is somewhat superficial, and the argument regarding India's population in the third paragraph is generalised without strong supporting evidence. Consequently, the response sits at a level where ideas are presented and are relevant to the task, but they are insufficiently developed to satisfy higher descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at logical organisation. The essay is divided into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs initiated by sequencing devices ('Firstly' and 'Secondly'), and a concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear, as seen in repetitive transitional phrases like 'As a result' and vague pronoun references such as 'Many technologies and facelities provide many items them.' While the progression of ideas is generally understandable, the occasional awkward transitions prevent the response from achieving a higher level of fluid organisation.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally impede smooth communication. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'technologies,' 'invations,' and 'facelities,' but these are marred by frequent spelling mistakes ('facelities' instead of facilities, 'invations' instead of innovations) and inaccurate word forms ('making a new products,' 'prodcuts'). Additionally, there is heavy repetition of basic vocabulary like 'choices,' 'products,' and 'things.' These recurring lexical limitations and word-choice inaccuracies mean the vocabulary control remains restricted.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are noticeable errors in grammar, verb forms, articles, and singular/plural agreement throughout the text, such as 'in current time,' 'every people have,' 'population is a one of the reason,' and 'AI found lots of new types items.' While these errors do not completely obscure the overall meaning, their frequency and the persistent lack of control over basic grammatical patterns mean the writing cannot be placed in a higher category.
