Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the last years, a considerable amount of people argue that options have become almost unlimited, regarding clothes, food etc. In my opinion, I fully agree with this statement for several reasons.
First of all, the number one reason of having too many choices is the trend of consumerism. Social media has made this trend go viral, with videos of influences and celebrities flaunting their wealth through massive spendings. For instance, shopping hauls videos are some of the most viewed in social platforms, mostly by young audiences. Muckbangs are a different side of consuming and spending on huge amounts of food. This trend influences people to spend on things that they do not need, and this results to overspending, more waste, which dadges the enviornment, and bad financial choices. To satisfy the need for spending, businesses come up with different versions of their products.
In addition, globalisation contributes significantly to to people having too many options. Nowadays different countries of the world can export their local products and import other products from each other. For example, albanian people in the communist area could only choose one brand of car to buy, as the borders were closed. Now you can choose from the dozens of car brands to own because of import has made it possibile. This phenomena leads to the population having different options for a lot of products, like clothes, food, accesories, cars and so on.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that we have quite a lot of options for many things because of overspending and globalisation. We need to mindful that too many options can have a negative effect on our daily lives, so spending in consideration is a great way to subdue these bad outcomes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response successfully addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, which fully satisfies the requirements for the lower band level. You explore relevant ideas regarding consumerism and globalisation, which contribute to your agreement with the statement. However, some parts are more fully developed than others, pointing towards the characteristics of the next band level. For instance, your explanation of consumerism and social media trends is well-supported with examples like shopping hauls and mukbangs, but your points on environmental impact and overspending are slightly rushed and lack full extension. To reach a higher standard, ensure that every supporting argument is thoroughly explored with equal depth and detailed explanation rather than just introduced briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from your introduction through your body paragraphs to your conclusion, meeting the core requirements of the lower band. You use standard cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure of your arguments. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each main body paragraph focusing on a distinct reason. Nevertheless, cohesion is at times a bit mechanical, and referencing can occasionally feel slightly repetitive. To move towards a higher level, you should aim to integrate cohesive devices more flexibly and smoothly within sentences, relying less on formulaic transition markers, and ensure that referencing pronouns clearly link back to their intended antecedents without ambiguity.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'consumerism', 'globalisation', and 'overspending', which allows you to communicate your main points effectively. Your writing shows a sufficient grasp of topic-specific terminology regarding shopping and lifestyle trends. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling that prevent you from achieving a higher score. For example, phrases like 'dadges the enviornment' contain spelling mistakes and slight lexical inaccuracies ('damages the environment'), and 'spending in consideration' is an awkward collocation. To improve in this area, focus on refining your spelling, expanding your use of natural collocations, and paying closer attention to word forms and prepositions within lexical chunks.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Your response incorporates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to vary your syntactic structures with constructions like relative clauses and conditional statements. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'In the last years' instead of 'In recent years', 'number one reason of' instead of 'number one reason for', and issues with article usage and prepositions (e.g., 'on social platforms' rather than 'in'). However, these errors rarely impede communication and do not obscure your overall meaning. To achieve a higher level of grammatical performance, you need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and ensure greater precision in prepositional usage, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout your writing.
