Student answer (Band 5.5)
Certain individuals think that these days we are having a number of choices. I totally agree with the statement because in every aspect of our lives and for every age gorup which creates inconvenience and takes a lot of time to decide.
To begin with, when people from the older generations used to visit the market for any purpose, numerous reviting things from cooking to wearing could be seen on the grocessory shops and the outlets. But now the trend of purchasing anything has been completely updated. Technology is ubiquitous and now people can find anything online just after few clicks. It is very rare that we can have an aversion with anything because variety of there is huge variety of everything is available. Moreover, these are displayed in a sense that everyone likes them. But when we purchase any item online then there is a greater chance that we will not get the same thing. There will be the discrepancy what we purchased and what we got. For instance, an individual purchases sneakers online after spending substantial time, there is a high chance that they will not get same sneakers.
To add more, having too many choices is used to target consumers so they may purchase, they should not leave the shop without purchasing. It is kind of marketing strategy. For instance, a person who wants to purchase shirt will go to the outlet but there if that specific sort of shirt is not available then they will be offered with variety of other shirts and on discounted rate so that customer may not leave the shop.
To conclude, indeed variety of choices exist but we should plan each and everything before buying anything because if we will not plan then we will be confused.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing total agreement that we have too many choices nowadays, but the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. While you mention general aspects of life, shopping, and marketing strategies, some arguments are repetitive or lack clear extension. For instance, the discussion on online shopping focuses heavily on discrepancies between the picture and the actual product, but this point is not fully linked back to the overarching theme of choice overload in a robust way. To move higher, each main body paragraph needs to present fully extended and supported ideas that directly explore the consequences of having excessive choices, ensuring the position is maintained consistently and deeply throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic logical organisation with clear attempts at paragraphing and sequencing, using standard transition phrases like 'To begin with', 'To add more', and 'To conclude'. However, the overall progression lacks a smooth flow, and some cohesive devices are mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'To add more'. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, making it occasionally difficult to follow how sentences connect, particularly in the second paragraph where ideas about online shopping shift abruptly. To achieve a higher standard, you need to ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and that sentences progress logically from one clear point to the next without abrupt leaps in thought.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, but the range is limited and contains noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'gorup' instead of 'group' and 'reviting' instead of 'riveting'. There are also awkward collocations and phrasing like 'aversion with anything because variety of there is huge variety of everything is available'. These lexical inaccuracies and limited attempts at less common vocabulary cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve your lexical score, you should incorporate a wider variety of precise vocabulary and less common lexical items, while paying closer attention to correct word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to grammar errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. For example, expressions like 'we are having a number of choices' and 'there will be the discrepancy what we purchased' show a lack of control over basic syntactic patterns and relative clauses. Punctuation and phrasing also suffer from frequent inaccuracies, such as run-on sentences in the conclusion. To progress, you need to demonstrate a greater variety of complex structures with higher accuracy, ensuring that basic grammar rules, prepositions, and clause structures are handled correctly.
