Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this era of globalisation, people got too many choices for there single task. I firmly beleive that having too much choices makes problems in decision making and this should harm our health.
When someone goes to shop out for a single thing but it got hundreds of choices exactly fiting his demand, so anyone could be confiused and cannot make a decision. Having too many choices can make decions very hard and confuse people to purchase something. If we saw the current situation we got different types and shapes of the same thing, after we deside the shape we got the quality options for it, that it have four kinds of qualities which can make anyone to be confused to buy anything. If anyone goes to buy a thing to eat, every stop gives him different prices and every stop gives him different food quality, it even make someone confuse about what to eat.
In current situation if i go to buy anything such as i go to the market to buy some clothes, in the maret there are hundreds of clothing brands which are providing people there services, I selected a brand and go to there outlet to shop, they will show me hundreds of choices which can include same colors with different shades or they can show me the same color with different quality. Different quality with same colors got me confused to buy some clothes, until i left the shop without buying anything.
We should give people limited choices so they can chose the best for themselves rather then to provide them hundreds of different thing having same job.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by expressing a clear position that having too many choices causes confusion and harms health, which corresponds to the requirements for this band level. The ideas presented are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying heavily on repetitive examples about shopping and buying clothes rather than expanding on the broader implications of having too many choices in modern life. For instance, the discussion moves from general decision-making to a personal shopping anecdote without fully exploring the health impacts mentioned in the introduction. To move closer to higher bands, the writer needs to extend their ideas and provide fully developed support for all parts of the prompt, ensuring a more balanced and thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some organisation with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which shows an overall arrangement of ideas. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak referencing, such as the abrupt transitions in the second and third paragraphs. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or over-used, with repetitive reliance on words like 'stop', 'thing', and basic connectors. Additionally, paragraphing is not fully controlled, as the central body of the text clumps multiple related thoughts into overly dense sections rather than separating distinct arguments. Improving the logical sequencing of ideas and using a wider, more accurate variety of cohesive ties would help create a clearer sense of progression throughout the writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message of the essay. The vocabulary used is often repetitive and basic, relying on words like 'things', 'choices', and 'stop' throughout the response. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling that occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'there' instead of 'their', 'beleive', 'confiused', 'decions', 'deside', and 'maret'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are generally hindered by these inaccuracies. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range beyond everyday terminology, improve precision in word choice and collocations, and eliminate spelling mistakes to ensure smooth communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, consisting mainly of simple and repetitive complex sentences that frequently contain errors. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as 'people got too many choices for there single task', 'it got hundreds of choices', 'If we saw the current situation we got', and 'every stop gives him'. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, leading to awkward phrasing that can cause difficulty for the reader. To progress to a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with greater control, reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors, and ensure accurate punctuation and tense consistency.
