Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, people have many choices in almost every part of life such as foods, shopping, jobs and entertaintments. Some people thinks it is too much. I disagree with this view because I beleive it is a good things. Somehow it causes problems for people.
First of all, having more choices gives people freedom and better quality. Companies competes with each others so they offer low prices and better products. Also, people finds things of their own interest and needs and be happier in their work. For instances, students today can study online and abroad and can enrolled in their interested course. They can study medicines, engineering, computer sciences, arts and many other subjects of their own choices. In past, many people had to accept whatever was available, even if it was not suitable for them.
On the other hand, too much choices can be problem for peoples. When there are too many product in the shops, people often feel confused and stressed to make choices. As a student, if there are too many courses in universities he may select the course that he do not want to studies. Because of too much choices, people even regret of buying something that they do no want to buy. Youth people may also find it hard to choose career when there are too many different jobs.
In conclusion, I disagree with the too much choices is a problem nowadays. Choices give freedom, better quality of products and lower prices, wo only need to known how to use the choices wisely, so that it can not become problem for us.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that having many choices is generally beneficial. Ideas are relevant, but some are more fully developed than others, which places the response in this band. For example, the argument regarding product quality and lower prices is well-supported by the example of online and abroad education, where the writer lists specific fields of study like medicine and engineering. However, the counter-argument acknowledging the downsides of having too many choices, such as consumer confusion and career indecision, is somewhat generalized and lacks deeper extension. The conclusion restates the writer's stance effectively, maintaining relevance throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. While basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, referencing is not always clear, as seen in the ambiguous use of pronouns like 'he' when referring generally to a university student. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs occasionally feels disjointed, particularly in the transition between sentences in the second and third body paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'consumer', 'freedom', and 'career'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling that reflect this band level. Examples of these lexical errors include 'entertaintments' instead of 'entertainments', 'thinks' and 'beleive' for agreement and spelling, 'medicines' instead of 'medicine', 'peoples' as a plural noun, and the phrase 'Youth people' instead of 'Young people'. Despite these errors, communication is generally maintained as the meaning remains clear throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as subordinate clauses ('even if it was not suitable for them') and conditional constructions. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Companies competes', 'people finds', 'there are too many product'), incorrect article usage ('in past'), and awkward prepositions or verb forms ('can enrolled', 'to studies', 'regret of buying'). Fortunately, these grammatical errors rarely impede communication, and the mix of structures shows an attempt at variety, though control is inconsistent.
