Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some Individuals believe that in today's time we have too many options to choose from. I agree with this statement.
I strongly believe that people now have more options than before.Multiple options to choose from is both a boon and a curse. For example, I am a recent graduate in business with a major in marketing, earlier people barely had options to choose from when it came to choosing their careers. However, while evaluating my options for masters i realised i could choose marketing analytics, marketing strategy or marketing consulting altogether. Frankly, this led me to become more confused instead of giving me a clear direction.
With the increase in usage of technology, people now are exposed to different parts of the world.
This has led to people consuming content online which leaves them anxious and forces them pick the right option for them. Multiple options also reduce the attention span of individuals because they end up being bored easily. It makes their thoughts flick which results in them being unable to give their 100%. I have personally seen myself experiencing a makeup product at a store and then waiting for it to be on discount on e commerce websites like Myntra and Amazon. This leads to a waste of time which could have been saved if i had a limited number of options.
To recapitulate, I believe that people these days have a wide range to choose from which might be fruitful in some cases, however it often leads to people becoming indecisive and delaying their decision making hoping to get more options.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, which earns a solid performance in this category. You successfully introduce your perspective right from the beginning and support your stance with relevant examples, such as your personal experience as a business graduate deciding on a master's specialization. However, while some ideas are well extended, others remain slightly under-developed or touch upon points without fully exploring them, which places this aspect just above the mid-range threshold. For instance, the discussion on technology and anxiety introduces a valid point, but it could have been expanded further to fully capture the complexity of modern consumer choices. To reach the next level, ensure that every main idea is thoroughly elaborated with deeper explanation and broader real-world contexts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a logical conclusion summarizing your stance. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as educational choices versus online consumerism. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or relies on simpler linking strategies. Referencing and transitional phrases could be managed more smoothly to establish an unmistakable progression of ideas throughout the text. For example, sentences within your second body paragraph transition abruptly from technology use to attention spans and personal makeup shopping habits. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, you should focus on utilizing a more varied and natural range of cohesive devices and ensure that inter-sentence referencing is seamless, guiding the reader effortlessly from one concept to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'specialization', 'anxious', and 'indecisive'. There are some word-choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'forces them pick' instead of 'forces them to pick', and minor mechanical issues like 'e commerce' lacking a hyphen, but these do not impede communication. Your attempts at utilizing topical vocabulary related to careers and modern consumer habits show promise. To elevate your lexical score to the next tier, you need to incorporate a wider and more flexible range of sophisticated, less common vocabulary with precise awareness of collocation and style, while minimizing minor word-choice slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating your ability to construct compound and complex clauses effectively, such as in your concluding summary where you balance fruitful outcomes against indecisiveness. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly missing articles or capitalization slips like 'masters i realised', 'e commerce', and lowercase 'i' pronouns in the middle of sentences. Crucially, these errors rarely impede communication and the majority of your simpler sentences remain accurate. To achieve a higher band descriptor, you should aim to produce more frequent error-free sentences utilizing a wider variety of complex grammatical structures with tighter control over punctuation and article usage.
