Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is undeniable that different people have different opinions. In this regard, it is believed by some people that nowadays we have too many choices as compared to past. I agreed upto large extent with this notion due to some reasons which will be discussed in the forthcoming paragraphs with a logical conclusion.
To commence with, people have so many choices related to education, food and clothes etc. It is beneficial for people because they can make their own choices according to their mood. To clarify it more, people can make their own choice in studies according to their interest because they want to achieve their goal in their life and they always choose interesting subject which they seems easy and understandable. Beside this, there are so many choices on food and clothes. There are so many brands available on clothes and people can choose clothes according to their skin and colour of fabric.
Beside this, there are some benefits of having various choices on everything. The prime one is that people become difficult and they cannot choose easily because all the things attract to people and they also cannot afford it. As a result, it consume a lot of time because people cannot buy things easily due to having various choices on goods. But, it is good thing to have choices on study and work because people can do study to become successful person in life, while people can work and earn good money for their livelihood.
In conclusion, although there are benefits of having various choices on study and work such as achieve their goal and earn good profit etc. yet, drawbacks of various choices on food and clothes cannot be overlooked at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer attempts to present a position on whether we have too many choices nowadays, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, the student mentions choices in education, food, and clothes in the second body paragraph, but these points are supported with superficial explanations rather than robust arguments or specific examples. The counter-argument attempted in the third paragraph introduces confusion regarding whether choices are beneficial or detrimental, leading to a muddled overall perspective. To improve, the writer needs to present fully developed, clear ideas with relevant examples that maintain a consistent stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, but the essay lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, yet the internal flow of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often inadequate, repetitive, or mechanically applied, such as the frequent reliance on 'To commence with', 'Beside this', and 'To clarify it more'. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical links between sentences. To move to a higher band, the writer must ensure a smoother logical progression of ideas and use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'forthcoming paragraphs', 'undeniable', and 'livelihood', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'I agreed upto large extent' and 'consume a lot of time' when referring to choice overload. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'difficult' used instead of 'indecisive' in the phrase 'people become difficult'. These lexical shortcomings occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the student should expand their range of vocabulary and focus on precise word choices and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Notable issues include article omission and misuse ('as compared to past', 'in life', 'on food'), subject-verb agreement problems ('subject which they seems'), and awkward prepositional usage ('choices on education, food and clothes'). Punctuation and sentence boundaries also show instability. To achieve a higher band, the student must incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures while significantly improving accuracy in basic grammar rules and sentence construction.
