Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a position—“I strongly agree”—and give several reasons, including education, technology and time management. These points are relevant to choices in modern life, but the response only partially answers the question because it does not clearly explain why the number of choices is excessive or consider their disadvantages. The discussion often shifts to the benefits of having choices, such as “live our lives comfortably,” which does not fully support the claim that there are too many. Examples such as smartphones and spare-time activities are mentioned but not developed into clear explanations. To strengthen the response, explain what makes choice overwhelming and support your position with specific, relevant examples throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs also group related points, such as technology and education in one section and time management in another. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the introduction promises to discuss “the basic reasons,” while the task asks whether you agree that there are too many choices. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “In addition” and “Moreover” help signal sequence, but they are repetitive and sometimes introduce ideas without showing how they support the argument. Some sentences are difficult to connect, and the conclusion introduces “original worh” without clarifying its relationship to the discussion. Make each paragraph develop one clear reason and use links that show the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “technology,” “time management,” “mental and physical satisfaction” and “choices,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “primary reason” and “many choices.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “challange,” “socities,” “bussiest” and “original worh,” which can make parts of the message difficult to understand. Some expressions are unnatural or imprecise, for example “find every thing in our lives” and “make life much easier and fastest.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and choose vocabulary that directly expresses the idea of having too many options, rather than relying on broad or unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “so” and “because”-like reasoning, and the main message is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “While some critics believe that we have too many choices in recent era” is an incomplete sentence, while “technology make our life easier” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “people saves their time” and “this may leads,” where the verb forms do not agree with the subjects. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “this may leads” after a full stop and the lowercase “i.” Practise building complete sentences and checking agreement, verb forms and punctuation.
