Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many individuals are of the opinion that these days people are given many options to choose from. I agree with this statement as I think industrialization is advancing fastly leading to more choices for anything. Also, the fact that people are focusing more in having autonomy over the decision making power.

People can only choose from different options if they have such opportunities. Industrialization has made this process super easy for every human being in their need for any product or service. More brands for same product is creating more choices for its counsmers. For instance, if you go to buy a toothpaste in a regular shop in your neighborhood not even in the big supermarket, you can easily find atleast 2 to 3 different brands of toothpaste.

Furthermore, people are given more freedom in making any decision which is leading them to have more choices than there ever was in the past. While in the past, the decision making power would be of their elder or more specifically their parents but nowadays people are even encouraging their young ones to make a decision even as small as what they want to wear. For instance, in country like Pakistan, women were not allowed to select their partner for marriage in the past but these days they can marry whoever they want as long as both families are content with the selection of their child.

In conclusion, to have many choices, there should be opportunities as well to choose from but due to industrialization and freedom in decision this is no longer an issue as people will even create new choices even if they have to.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that people now have many choices, and the conclusion returns to this view. You give two relevant reasons—greater product availability through industrialisation and increased freedom in personal decisions—and support them with examples about toothpaste and marriage choices in Pakistan. This addresses the task, but the ideas are not developed equally fully. The toothpaste example illustrates variety, while the broader claim that industrialisation makes choices easy could use explanation beyond brands. The discussion of changing family decision-making is relevant, but its connection to having “too many” choices could be made more explicit. Explain whether this abundance is beneficial or overwhelming, and develop that aspect to make your response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the progression from consumer choices to personal freedom, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” make the sequence apparent. However, some connections are broad or mechanical. For example, “People can only choose from different options if they have such opportunities” repeats the idea in the introduction rather than clearly leading into the industrialisation point. The final sentence also combines several ideas—opportunity, industrialisation, freedom, and creating choices—without showing their relationships precisely. Use clearer links between each claim and its example, and make references such as “this process” and “they” more specific where needed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range to discuss the topic, including terms such as “industrialization,” “autonomy,” “decision making power,” and “freedom.” These help convey the main ideas, and the examples are generally easy to understand. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal, which limits precision: “advancing fastly” is not a natural expression, “super easy” is conversational, and “more brands for same product” needs more natural phrasing. There are also spelling errors, including “counsmers” and “atleast.” Aim for accurate collocations and a consistently formal register, and proofread spelling. More precise vocabulary for the effects of choice—such as variety, availability, or decision-making autonomy—would strengthen the discussion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if you go to buy a toothpaste…” and a contrast between past and present decision-making. Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “people are focusing more in having autonomy” has an incorrect preposition and verb pattern, while “More brands for same product is creating” has problems with the article and subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “While in the past” is a fragment because it lacks a main clause. Review articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, and revise fragments into complete sentences. Greater control of these patterns would make your otherwise understandable argument smoother.
