Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely believed that in recent days people have a lot of choices due to globalization which may have a positive effect for the individuals and society. Some people agree with this statement, whereas others might have a different opinion. In my opinion, I partially agree with this idea because though multiple choices help people to connect with the best resources, news and scopes, it can introduced lack of stability and stress issues.

There are various reasons behind this view. The major reason is globalization. It has made the world smaller and almost every resources are accessible by every individuals, so people can choose the better one for them. For instance, the E-commerce platform gives us multiple options in items such as, dresses, cosmetics and accessories etc. so that we can choose the suitable items as per our requirements. Due the globalization effect choices are not bounded to a country, anything can be accessible from anywhere. Moreover, our choices to study abroad or scope to study from different foreign courses have been increased in the recent years. As a result our choice of study opportunities has also increased.

In contrast, it has created some demirits for the individuals and society. People often suffers from hesitation while making any desicion, because if there are lots of choices available, people could face trouble while picking the suitable one. As a result, it would create anxiety and people would feel less motivated for work. For example, if a person has too many option of dresses eventually he would feel confused and might lose interest to buy one.

In conclusion, in recent days due to the globalization effect we have too many choices which helps us to choose something as per our needs, helps to find suitable resources for our study, however sometimes due to too much options availability could lead to anxiety and reduce the motivation, which could be detrimental to the individuals and society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you partially agree, recognising both the benefits of wider choice and the stress it can cause. The response addresses the question and gives relevant examples, including online shopping and access to overseas study. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits paragraph explains global access, but the claim that choice improves society is not explored, while the drawbacks rely mainly on one clothing example. The link between having many choices and reduced motivation is also asserted rather than explained. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a clearer chain of reasoning and a specific example, and keep the discussion focused on whether the number of choices is excessive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a contrasting paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “In contrast” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the overall direction. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and ideas within paragraphs are not always connected smoothly. The opening refers to “some people” holding different opinions, but the essay does not go on to explain those positions; the first body paragraph also moves from shopping to education without a clear transition. Repeated references to globalization and choices make the progression feel circular. Use clearer topic sentences and linking explanations, and ensure pronouns and references point unambiguously to the ideas they represent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “globalization,” “accessible,” “hesitation,” “anxiety,” and “motivation,” which allows you to discuss both advantages and disadvantages. Some attempts at more specific language are effective, but inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling reduce precision. For example, “scopes” does not naturally express opportunities, “demirits” is misspelled, and “desicion” is also misspelled. Phrases such as “too much options availability” and “the globalization effect” sound unnatural. Aim to learn useful word partnerships as complete phrases and check spelling and word forms during revision; this will make your meaning more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “though,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally clear. However, some errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms remain. For example, “every resources are accessible” should use a singular noun and verb, while “every individuals” needs a singular noun. In “it can introduced,” the verb form is incorrect, and “People often suffers” has a subject–verb agreement error. Some long sentences also need clearer punctuation, particularly the opening sentence of the conclusion. Practise checking each sentence for its subject and verb, and break longer sentences into manageable units while retaining a mix of structures.
