Student answer (Band 5.5)

In modern society, individuals have excessive number of alternatives from consumer goods to career pathway. In contrast which make it highley competitive for indidual to select one thing However, from my perspective I agree to some extent with the idea that, an overabundace of options will give us more pathways. There are some certain rseasons for my opinion which i wish to highlight in this eassy.

On one hand, Variety of an unprecedented suplus of decisions will make it difficult for individuals to select one option, and if the decision goes wrong it brings mental stress and anxiety with it.

Example:Browsing online shopping websites and unable to choice one and then if you select anyone of them and didnot get the exact thing you want will end up with a regret

On the other hand, for career opportunities it is such a delicate way to choice thing. We have variety of options of universities then for jobs so it help us to choice that one which align with our intersest. If you didn't get admission to any job in your city you can try it at onother or you can do any online job they are so many of them.

Example: I aim to take admission to some of my shorlisted universties i will get admission from one of them or if i don't then so many options are still left.

overall, I will go with the positive aspect of career oppotunities while mental stress and anxiety issues are also valid. so its all depend on how you utalize this opportunity

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a recognisable, partly qualified position: you acknowledge that too many options can cause stress, while arguing that career choices can be beneficial. The shopping example supports the first point, and your university example relates to the second. However, the position is not consistently expressed: “I agree to some extent” is followed by the unclear claim that options “will give us more pathways,” and the conclusion says you favour the positive aspect without clearly weighing the two sides. Several ideas remain under-developed, especially how having more career options leads to better outcomes. Explain the link and add a specific, relevant example. A clearer thesis and fuller explanation of both reasons would make the response address the task more completely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signalled by “On one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your two main points. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the shopping example is presented abruptly, and the career paragraph shifts from universities to jobs and online work without clearly connecting each point. Some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the contrast rather than drawing the argument together. Use complete topic sentences, then explain each point before giving an example. Clearer links between sentences and more precise referencing would help the reader follow how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “alternatives,” “mental stress and anxiety,” “career opportunities,” and “align with our interests.” These choices show some awareness of the language needed to discuss choice and its effects. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “highley competitive,” “overabundace,” “choice” used as a verb, and “delicate way to choice thing.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “variety of an unprecedented suplus of decisions.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than adding complex-sounding wording. Proofread spelling and use precise expressions such as “a wide range of options” and “make a decision.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “if the decision goes wrong” and a contrast between the two sides of your argument. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “In contrast which make it highley competitive…” is an incomplete, incorrectly connected clause, while “it help us to choice” has subject–verb agreement and verb-form problems. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “individuals have excessive number” and the run-on opening paragraph. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation.
