Student answer (Band 6.5)

Many people belive that compared to the past, in the contemporary world people have numerous choice and option to choose. I completely agree with the notion, as the world is evolving new ways or methods of living are being generated continously.

To begin with, people have developed new perspectives and begin acknowledging other point of views. In the past people followed rigid customs and traditions set by the society, these restrictions refrained people from gaining insights on how others behaved socially. Due to this they could only choose options that were acceptable to the society, which were limited. But with globalisation, advancement in technology has made communication easier resulting in easy access on information about others culture. This has expanded the intellectual horizons of the public, prompting expand their perspectives which helps them to form choices they like without considering social prejudices. For instance, social media is an effective tool to spread awareness about one's rights and choices they can make.

In addition to this, the people also have numerous choices in terms of educations and products. Every commercialised industry is heavily investing on providing quality items to their buyers so to main a long realtionship with them. As a result almost every firm is producing new items to unlock wide options that satisfies each customer. This stratergy is not only limited to industries but education insitutes also have included various programms that attracts large number of students, so to earn huge revenue from them. Finally, people have an access to a wider range of choices in every possible field.

In conclusion, I agree with the notion that the contemporary people have numerous options to draw a favourable choice. This is primarily because of the shift from traditional prespective to understanding wide range of opinions and generation of numerous products with the aim to satisfy each buyer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the question with two relevant lines of reasoning: changing social attitudes have widened personal choices, while education and commercial markets offer more options. The social-media example also helps illustrate how people learn about their rights and possible choices. This is a well-focused response with ideas extended and supported. However, some claims are broad, such as saying that “almost every firm” produces new items, and the education point is mainly explained through institutions seeking revenue rather than how this gives individuals meaningful choices. More specific examples and fuller development of that point would make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from social change to consumer and educational options is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “In addition to this,” and “In conclusion” guide the reader. Within the first body paragraph, the sequence from globalisation and technology to wider awareness is also logical. At times, however, linking is somewhat formulaic, and the final sentence of the second body paragraph repeats the general claim rather than advancing the discussion. Use clearer references between ideas and make each paragraph’s final sentence draw out the significance of its example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “rigid customs and traditions,” “globalisation,” “intellectual horizons,” and “social prejudices.” These choices help express ideas about social change and expanding options. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and limit precision: examples include “numerous choice and option,” “access on information,” “main a long realtionship,” and “wide range of choices.” Some wording is also vague or repetitive, particularly repeated references to “choices” and “options.” Aim to check spelling and use natural combinations of words, while choosing more precise terms for the types of options being discussed. This would make your vocabulary more controlled and flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “as,” “which,” and “so,” and most of the argument remains understandable. There are some grammatical errors, however, particularly with agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “people have numerous choice” needs a plural noun, while “prompting expand their perspectives” is missing a grammatical form such as “them to expand.” The sentence beginning “In the past people followed rigid customs and traditions set by the society, these restrictions…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma. Review sentence boundaries and check that subjects, verbs, and articles agree. Greater accuracy in these areas would strengthen your control of the complex structures you attempt.
