Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, people have many choises to every aspect of life. They can choose different types of foods, dresses, education, jobs and products. People select their own choices like study in whch university or choose the program own their choice. There are a lot of choices which make the life easy and comfortable. But sometimes too many choices make the people confuse and stress. This essay will discuss both views and give my opinion.

On the one hand, many choices make the people life ease and comfortable. For instance, the student can choose their favourite subjects at the affordable university. Some people can buy products that can be easily affordable and can be easily purchased. The girls can select dresses on their own choices. The people can choose the job which they like and which can be easily manageable. So, having many choices make the life a liitle easy.

On the other hand, too many choices are available at one time make life stressful and uncomfortable. People may find it difficult because there are many chices are available at one time. So, some people do not make the right decision. For instance, buying a new mobile model creates a confusion when it is compared with other mobile models. It make a wrong decision and wastage of time and money. People may regret their decisions if they later find a better decision. So, sometimes people cannot find it easy.

In my opinion, a balanced approach, where the positive aspects are maximized while the drawbacks are managed carefully, is the key to achieving the best outcomes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the issue and give relevant examples, such as choosing university subjects and comparing mobile phones. However, the response only partially answers the question about whether you agree or disagree: the introduction says the essay will discuss both views, while the conclusion offers a general “balanced approach” without clearly stating the extent of your agreement. Several points are also under-developed. For example, you say that many choices make life “easy and comfortable,” but do not explain in detail how this benefits people; the mobile-phone example is more specific but its consequences are not fully clarified. State your position directly and consistently, then explain and support each main reason.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in viewpoint, and the examples generally follow the points they illustrate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: several sentences in the first body paragraph repeat that people can choose products, clothes, jobs, or subjects without developing a central explanation. Some links are also unclear, particularly “It make a wrong decision,” where the reference and relationship to the previous sentence are difficult to follow. Build each paragraph around one main reason, explain it, and then connect the example explicitly to that reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “affordable,” “regret,” “decision,” and “stressful.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “choises,” “chices,” “make the people confuse,” and “a liitle easy.” Phrases such as “select their own choices” and “a better decision” are also unnatural in context. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the general argument, but they sometimes make individual sentences harder to interpret. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “feel confused” and “make a decision” rather than translating phrases word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “People may find it difficult because there are many chices are available at one time.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “many choices make the people life” needs a possessive form, while “having many choices make” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “It make a wrong decision,” the verb form and the subject are unclear. Most sentences follow basic patterns, so there is limited evidence of accurate structural variety. Practise forming complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and possessives before adding more complex structures.
